LORENA (February 6, 2014) Two men were taken by ambulance from a scene near Lorena to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center after they rolled their SUV on Interstate 35.

The SUV came to rest on its wheels in the accident, which happened just before 7 a.m. Thursday near Robinson on the Interstate.

The driver fled the scene of the crash, however, and didn’t stop until he got onto Spring Valley Road near Lorena, a Department of Public Safety trooper investigating the accident said.

The driver and his passenger suffered only minor injuries but were taken to Hillcrest to undergo a blood alcohol test, the trooper said.

The trooper wasn’t sure exactly where the Interstate crash happened but did say it was near Robinson.

The driver and his passenger switched places and fled the accident scene but after driving onto Spring Valley Road, he decided he needed to stop.

Another motorist called police.

The southbound lane of Spring Valley was closed for a time while crews cleared debris from the highway but had re-opened by 8 a.m.
