Friday Morning Fire Destroys Rural Home

ROBINSON (February 7, 2014) An early Friday morning house fire destroyed a Robinson home but no one was injured in the blaze.

Firefighters were sent just after 4 a.m. to a house at 1071 Surrey Ridge Lane, in South Robinson.

The first units to arrive at the scene reported flames and heavy smoke coming from the wood-frame, single-story structure.

A young man and a young woman who were in the house at the time of the fire were able to escape without injury.

An older woman who also lives in the house was at work at the time of the fire.

Robinson firefighter Steve Bridges said the house is believed to be more than 100 years old.

The house is a total loss, Bridges said.

The condition of the roof is unstable, Bridges said, and firefighters have not been able to get inside to extinguish the fire and they’re forced to stand by and let it burn itself out.
