On July 14, 1881, 127 years ago, Sheriff Pat Garrett shot and killed outlaw William H. Bonney, Jr., alias "Billy the Kid," in Fort Sumner, N.M. Or did he? Some still argue that Billy the Kid cheated death and lived out his life under the nickname of Brushy Bill in the Central Texas town of Hico. And others claim a man named John Miller was actually the notorious outlaw. He’s buried at the state-owned Pioneer’s Home Cemetery in Prescott, Ariz.
