(March 20, 2006)--Forecasters say heavy rainfall that flooded roads and swept a woman to her death this weekend may have eased chronic drought conditions in North Texas.
Authorities continued assessing the damage Monday from storms that dumped as much as eight inches of rain on parts of the Dallas area.
Weather officials predicted dry weather for the area for the next few days.
Forecasters say the rain will help with the drought that's been in place since last year but won't reverse it.
Meanwhile, authorities are not releasing the name of the 22-year-old woman killed Sunday night until family members are notified.
The victim and an unidentified friend were caught in floodwaters while driving.
