WACO (March 19, 2014) A Waco man was taken by ambulance Wednesday morning to a local hospital for treatment of burns to his hands he suffered in an apartment fire.
Waco firefighters were sent at 4 a.m. to the 1100 block of North 6th Street where a caller reported an apartment was on fire.
When firefighters arrived they found a mattress inside an apartment that was burning and a man who had suffered what were called minor burns to his hands, Assistant Waco Fire Chief D.C. Yeager said.
The last unit left the scene at about 5 a.m., Yeager said.
The cause of the fire had not been determined but a fire marshal was at the scene investigating the blaze.
Yeager said two people lived in the apartment and both were home at the time the blaze broke out.
