(July 14, 2008)--An autopsy will be performed on a 2-year-old boy who was left in a car in Houston on a day when temperatures were in the mid-90s.

Investigators believe a relative forgot that Angel Ace Castillo was in the vehicle.

Police say it appears an uncle had taken several children to an apartment complex to swim when the toddler was left in the car Sunday afternoon.

Police say the uncle evidently believed other relatives had the child.

Prosecutors will decide whether to file charges.

Be careful how u condemn. Often u find urself n a like situation 2 show u the endless possibilities of human nature. Let the family handle him; it WAS the child's uncle, which means he's one of their brother's, which means they trusted him. They may see it as a mistake where you'd like 4 him 2 die. Let the family and God judge him. Sure would hate 4 one of ur children to ACCIDENTALLY pour hot water on the other, or for you to forget to give ur dog water this summer, or let ur child run thru the playground & be snatched. Would it then b ALL UR FAULT w/o any understanding? Don't forget ur own imperfections. U haven't made THIS mistake but you've made some in ur life that I'm sure someone would disapprove of & like for you to be slapped for them as well. Just pray for comfort for the family & know that the child is with God anyway--hate the way the child had to die but what better place to be with the world the way it is now!! Let God do what He does best: handle this world in HIS WAY!

you forget to flush the toilet...you forget to lock the door...you forget to turn the lights off....YOU DON'T FORGET ABOUT A LIVING TWO YEAR OLD IN A HOT VEHICLE. people are entitled to their opinions...my point was that they say that prosecutors will decide if charges are filed...the judicial system will fail and he will go scott free while the parents deal with the loss of a child (who they left in the care of someone who forgot about a two year old in a hot vehicle)

Who is to say that there were not five or six kids in the back of this car(or van, SUV, etc) that all rushed to the car at the same time when they found out they were going swimming. Maybe he didn't know that the toddler was going. Mistakes happen everyday. People here are heartless, and so quick to judge. As an imperfect parent who does not do the right thing 24/7, my heart goes out to this family...the ENTIRE family. I would hope that people could sympathize and reach out...not condemn.

Hypocrisy Just shows you just how human we are Our prayers to the family

ignorance is not a defense for him. but because of the judicial system these days...he will get away with it. he should be charged with murder but the most he will probably get is endangering a child with probation...or just a slap on the hand. maybe they should lock him in a car in the extreme heat and forget about him.... this is just so sad that the child didn't have a chance...my heart goes out to the family who trusted him with their child.

I have a 2 1/2 year old-i have never forgot him! I agree with those who stop and get gas, I always lock my doors and roll down the back window so i can talk to him. People are plain STUPID! Yes the uncle will have to live with this for the rest of his life-but what about the parents who trusted this person with the precious little one! Let him die in a hot car!

SadButTrue in Waco I am sorry but this is more than "kinda his fault", This is ALL his fault. When you are in charge of a child it is your job to put them in a safe place before you do anything else.

Posted by: anonymous Location: Austin on Jul 15, 2008 at 03:21 PM
To Chi Chi: It's kind of his fault? Even if it puts the parent out, never leave a child in a car as anything can happen in just a few minutes. A parent has the responsiblity to remember a child no matter what is going on around them.

ChiChi from Cove: I had that same thought when I 1st read the article but then I thought: what if the baby was asleep. It says he had several children so what if the baby was asleep so he thought, "I'll go ahead and take these kids to the pool and I'll be back so I can carry him/her since he/she is sleep" and then forgot to return to the car. How many times have we taken groceries in the house but couldn't shut the trunk or the door right away and ended up putting the groceries away when we remembered "THE DOOR!!!" Things do happen and life is so stressful these days that it's easy to forget, especially when you're in a normal routine or stepping OUT OF ROUTINE!! Sad that a child's life was the cost but I'm sure the uncle is punishing himself since the kids were in his care--it's kinda his fault. At the gas pump when my son is asleep, I roll the back windows down since I have to turn the car off. Same when I get home and he's sleep & I have 2 open the front door. Or I just WAKE HIM

How do you have a toddler in your vehicle and not know that you left 'em??? How can anyone be that irresponsible??? Surely the child cried at being left alone???

Ya know...I'm with "Texan" and "Parent," I really don't get how a child was forgotten or overlooked. Exactly how many kids were in this vehicle that he didn't realize there was one more? Something doesn't quite add up. May the parents of those children have more sense than the uncle...and may that baby be at peace in God's hands.

Posted by: Don Location: Hewitt on Jul 15, 2008 at 08:23 AM
I don't get this! How can people be so careless to leave a small, helpless child in a vehicle? I cannot fathom how anyone can forget that a child in the car. It is insane! I have read more than a few deaths caused by forgetting that the child was him/her. The poor children are left to die a cruel death. How do you forget? There is no rhyme or reason nor an excuse for this incident or any like them.

Oh my goodness. I don't understand how this child was "forgotten" or "overlooked". Absolutely horrible. God Bless that baby's soul and may he rest in peace. :(

This was a car not a bus, there were not rows and rows of seats to check, I dont understand how this was over looked!

no autopsey needed, cause of death was idiot parents.

Posted by: shepherd Location: texas on Jul 15, 2008 at 03:27 AM
I cant believe that people still get away with this outrageous act there should be no mercy for this there is no excuse

Posted by: Joe Location: Waco on Jul 14, 2008 at 10:20 PM
Poor example for human being's to forget your child. Hang them high!!!!!

Posted by: Dusty Location: Waco on Jul 14, 2008 at 09:37 PM
I'm sorry, but the Uncle had to have known this 2 year old was in the car on the ride to the pool. Was this Uncle drinking at the time? I don't see any way that you can justify what happened. The Uncle is at fault. He took on the responsibility when he decided to take the kids to the pool. God be with this family through this tragic incident.

I cannot believe they have to think about pressing charges. All they have is him saying he did't know the kid was in there, he is probly lying. How do you not know you have a child with you? Is he deaf blind and dumb?

Posted by: Aly Location: Waco Area on Jul 14, 2008 at 07:54 PM
My children are grown, with children of their own. I do not believe I ever left them in a car in the hot Texas sun. I am sure I never forgot one of them, either at home or when we went someplace. Now I have a little dog that goes with me almost everywhere. Before gas skyrocketed, I would leave the car running and the air conditioner on for him, but NEVER locked in a hot car! Now he has to stay home. How the HECK can you 'forget' a toddler or an animal???

Posted by: Jeff Location: bell on Jul 14, 2008 at 05:42 PM
Do people not read and hear about this all the time that it should be stuck in their brain. Plain English , do not leave your kids or animals in a car NEVER. Stop and LOOK always no excuses !!!!!!

How can someone "not notice" a two year old left in a car? At his age, he had to be in a car seat. Did no one notice he wasn't with them?

Posted by: b Location: waco on Jul 14, 2008 at 04:34 PM
How do you not know you left a child in the car? How freaking big was the car?

Posted by: chrisy Location: buffalo, texas on Jul 14, 2008 at 04:06 PM
I hate to say it.. but that was no a pleasent death for that baby. How do forget a child in the car? Stupid.

God bless the family. One should never assume, especially when it involves children.

This is very sad. That is why you always look after getting out to make sure everyone is out. My best goes out to this baby's family.

I don't buy it,,they should throw the book at the jerk.

how heartbreaking! and as far as the poor uncle, when you're not used to unloading a toddler, and your mind is on the other children and the chaos of a swimming outing, i can see how that can happen. it's one thing for a mother to forget (when mothers exit a car, it's almost habit to unload the carseats), but an uncle who just doesn't have that habit...it's just heartbreaking and my prayers go out to the boy's family and especially the uncle who was trying to do something nice that day. it's very sad.

Posted by: Angry Location: Tx on Jul 14, 2008 at 03:12 PM
I dont understand why he didnt realize that the boy was not around if you are babysitting that is the first thing you go is makesure everyone is there

Posted by: Leslie Location: Copperas Cove on Jul 14, 2008 at 02:46 PM
Even if he thought someone else got him out, why did no one notice that he was missing when they got to the pool??? There is just no excuse for this!!

Posted by: wendy Location: waco on Jul 14, 2008 at 02:15 PM
how sad. it just goes to show that you can never be to careful! god bless this baby and the family through this horrific time
