HARKER HEIGHTS (April 4, 2014) Firefighters from both Harker Heights and Killeen battled a mobile home blaze early Friday morning after a neighbor called in the fire.

Crews were sent just after 6 a.m. to a residence in the 4000 block of Quail Hollow Road, near the north shore of Stillhouse Hollow Reservoir.

The first units on the scene reported smoke and flames coming from the back of a mobile home, Harker Heights fire Chief Jack V. Collier said.

Initially firefighters were concerned that someone might be inside, but a quick search showed the home was empty and neighbors later confirmed it was vacant.

Intense heat forced firefighters to back out and continue their fight from outside the home.

Collier said the fire was declared under control at about 6:50 a.m.

No one was injured.

The fire marshal is investigating to try to determine the cause of the blaze, Collier said.
