Dying Manson Follower Will Remain In Prison

(July 15, 2008)--California parole officials denied compassionate release for a follower of Charles Manson who is dying of brain cancer.

Susan Atkins' doctors and officials at the women's prison in Corona made the request in March because of her deteriorating health.

The request was among items the parole board considered at its Tuesday meeting.

Atkins, two other women and Manson were tried for the 1969 cult killings of seven people, including pregnant actress Sharon Tate.

Atkins has been imprisoned for 37 years, longer than any other female in state history.

Los Angeles County District Attorney Steve Cooley wanted Atkins to stay in prison.

He said she stabbed Tate, tasted her blood and used it to write "Pig" on Tate's door.

She got life in prison. So that is where she should die. Period.

Why should she be shown any mercy, she killed another in cold blood, she should rot in jail just like all the rest of the sickos in there.

Let her sit in prison till the devil himself comes to get her. I have read her confession & she showed no mercy for Sharon nor for her son. Doris went to her grave fighting to keep these people in prison as did Sharon's sister Patti, & now Debra holds the role.Keep these people behind bars. Sharon is my cousin, & as a member of the family I vote NO leave them ALL behind bars.

How pathetic that they would even consider a release, much less, use the term "compassionate release" considering what this animal did. Let her die in prison where she belongs. She showed no compassion for Sharon Tate or her unborn child! And, now, some reports state that there may be many bodies buried on the Manson property. This is disgusting, but this our "justice" system at work.

They had no mercy for that woman or any of the other victims. I say lot her rot in prison til the day her miserable soul dies. Too leniant on these people is whats making our society go to hell!

why should she be let out? let her die in prison. she didnt give sharon tate a choice where she got butchered. why would she have more rights or choices than her victim had?
