The National Weather Service has issued a RED FLAG WARNING in effect until 6 pm for Bell, Bosque, Coryell, Falls, Freestone, Hamilton, Hill, Lampasas, Leon, Limestone, McLennan, Milam, Mills, Navarro, Robertson, and Williamson counties in Central Texas. The combination of strong south winds, low relative humidity, and dry vegetation will create an extreme danger for grass fires across Central Texas this afternoon.

Fire Guts Mobile Home Save Email Print

(July 18, 2008)--Fire broke out just before 6:30 a.m. Friday in a mobile home outside of Gatesville in which two out of town visitors were staying during a visit to Central Texas.

The Gatesville and Evant Volunteer Fire Departments responded to the fire on CR 162 between Gatesville and Evant.

Firefighters were unable to save the mobile home, in which two relatives of the owner were staying during a visit from Ohio.

They escaped without injury.

Firefighters said the fire appears to have started on a couch, but a cause has not yet been determined.
