(July 19, 2008)- A Killeen police officer is recovering after an undercover drug investigation went awry Saturday afternoon.
Police say the officer was issuing a warrant in the area of 8th Street and Blake.
According to officers at the scene, a detective tried to stop a car in the area.
The passenger got out and cooperated with the man, but the driver put the car in reverse and drove off, somehow dragging the detective several yards.
The officer managed to get free before the suspect drove forward leaving the scene.
The suspect was later caught by police when he crashed into a telephone pole on Greenwood Avenue nearby.
He was taken to Metroplex Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police named the suspect as Marshaun Wilson of Killeen, in his late 20's.
The policeman who was dragged by the car was treated at the scene and released.
Two more people were reportedly questioned by police at the crime scene in connection with the drug investigation.
Wilson faces traffic charges along with at least one charge of possession of powder cocaine.
