TEMPLE (April 26, 2014) A man charged with murder has turned himself into authorities.

An arrest warrant charging murder was issued Friday for John Nichols, 24, of Temple in a late-night shooting that left a local woman dead.

Temple Police report Nichols turned himself into Bell County Jail authorities Friday night.

LaCrae Hill, 20, of Temple, died early Friday morning at Scott & White Hospital after she was found late Thursday with a gunshot wound to the head.

Temple police were sent at around 11:55 p.m. Thursday to the 700 block of South Knob Street, where they found her lying in the roadway, police Cpl. Christopher Wilcox said.

Wilcox said a preliminary investigation showed that Hill and a man she knew argued and during the course of the argument the man produced a handgun and shot her in the head.
