WACO (April 28, 2014) Waco police were on the lookout Monday for a man they believe held a cab driver at gunpoint and took all of his valuables.
Police were sent at about 3:15 a.m. Monday to an address on South 9th Street after the Yellow Cab Company called police to report one of their drivers had been robbed.
The driver told his dispatcher he had picked up a fare at the Oak Lodge, at 1024 Austin Ave., and was told to take the man to a North Waco convenience store, Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said.
The driver said on the way to the store the man pulled a gun and demanded his valuables.
When the driver reached the 500 block of Bosque, near the Village Apartments, store he stopped the cab and the armed passenger got out.
The cab driver was not injured but was very shaken up, Swanton said.
Several police units converged on the area but after an extensive search did not locate the suspect.
Police were looking for a black man, 6-feet-tall, 250 pounds, wearing a dark shirt, with grey and black hair but had no further description of the gunman, Swanton said.
