(July 21, 2008)—Sen. John McCain said Monday he expects Barack Obama to get an eyeful as the Democratic presidential candidate tours Iraq.

Making the rounds of some of the morning news shows Monday, McCain said he hopes Obama will "have the opportunity to see the success of the surge."

McCain then called out Obama for his opposition to the surge, saying the reasons things are better in Iraq is because of the "same strategy that he voted against, railed against."

On NBC's "Today" show, McCain said Obama has "badly misjudged" the situation in Iraq.

In McCain's view, the troop surge "is succeeding and we are winning,” and he says he'd employ the same strategy in Afghanistan, if elected president.

Obama has endorsed removing U.S. combat forces from Iraq over a 16-month period.

McCain opposes setting specific dates for withdrawal.
