BELLMEAD (May 8, 2014) Traffic on Interstate 35 northbound at Bellmead was running slowly but all lanes were reported re-opened Thursday morning in the aftermath of a Wednesday night crash that involved three 18-wheelers.

Early reports from the scene near mile marker 339 said one truck driver was flown to the burn unit at Parkland Hospital, in Dallas, and another was taken by ambulance to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center for treatment.

The condition of the third driver was not known.

Police at the scene said just after 10 p.m. Wednesday two northbound 18-wheelers were slowing down at the beginning of a construction area near mile marker 339 when a third truck failed to see traffic slowing in front of him and rammed into the back of the two trucks.

The collision started a fire in one of the truck cabs and one of the drivers was burned.

One of the drivers also had to be cut from the wreckage.

It was not clear how much longer it would be before the roadway was clear.
