(July 31, 2008)—Officials with the U.S. government and the University of Texas at Brownsville return to court Thursday in a dispute over where to put a border fence.
The current plan would put the security fence through the campus.
A federal judge in Brownsville will be getting an update on the dispute
Homeland Security is accused of violating an earlier court-approved agreement to study alternatives to a physical barrier that would cut off the school's golf course and land for expansion.
The judge agreed and ordered both sides to get the expertise and authority in the same room to find a solution.
The federal judge is also scheduled to hear 13 land condemnation cases as the government readies the fence's path in Cameron County, Thursday.
