Alleged Brothel Operator Arrested In Texas
A woman who authorities allege ran brothels in California and Texas was in custody Thursday in Madisonville.

(April 13, 2006)--A Southern California woman is in custody in Texas on charges of operating brothels in Dallas and the Los Angeles area.
Jong Ock Mao of West Covina is accused of using women smuggled into the country from South Korea and Mexico.
She was arrested Tuesday in Madisonville after a 40-count indictment was unsealed in a California federal court.
Mao and three others are accused of conspiracy, money laundering and violating the Travel Act, a federal law that prohibits the use of interstate facilities to conduct illegal business.
Federal agents raided six businesses that authorities say were fronts for brothels.
They included tanning salons, chiropractic offices and spas.
Customs officials say authorities are working to extradite Mao to California.
