TEMPLE (June 18, 2014) A 24-year-old Temple man was hospitalized Wednesday morning after police officers found him suffering from a gunshot wound at a Temple residence.

Police were sent at about 12:20 a.m. Wednesday to a residence in the 900 block of S. 22nd Street after a caller reported a man had been shot.

When officers arrived they found a 24-year-old man who had suffered a gunshot wound to the upper body.

Friends were administering first aid while waiting for an ambulance to arrive, Temple police Cpl. Christopher Wilcox said.

Scott and White EMS took the victim to Scott and White Hospital where he was being treated for what officers called a serious injury but his exact condition was not disclosed, nor was his name.

Initial investigation indicates the man was shot while arguing with another man outside the residence, Wilcox said.

Wilcox also said investigators believe the gunman and the victim know each other but there was no motive for the assault discussed.

Officers did say nothing appeared to have been taken from the victim so robbery was discounted as a motive, Wilcox said.

Police did say the suspect is believed to be a black man who was wearing a light-colored hooded sweatshirt, according to Wilcox.

Wilcox said investigators believe the suspect fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Temple police at 254-298-5500, Wilcox said.
