Illegal Immigrant Faces Execution Save Email Print

A | A | A

(August 7, 2008)—Final appeals are pending as Texas death row inmate Heliberto Chi faces execution Thursday night over the 2001 slaying of his ex-boss.

The shooting took place during a robbery at a men's clothing store in Arlington.

The victim was Armand Paliotta.

Investigators say Chi, who's from Honduras, was in the U.S. illegally.

Lawyers for the Central American country say Chi was unable to contact anyone from his government, a violation of an international treaty, after he was arrested near Los Angeles.

Attorneys for Chi have appealed to the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals.

Also, Honduran consular officials say their government is lobbying U.S. authorities to block the execution.

Note To Honduras: In Texas if you kill someone we kill you back!

Not speaking to your consulate has NOTHING to do with the murder. If Mexico and/or Honduras don't like Texas law, they need to stop coming here and killing people.

If you can't take the punishment, then don't do the crime. I'm sure it's not legal to kill in his country. That's what happens when come to TEXAS "illegally" and break their laws!

Didn't his lawyers read the outcome from the Medellin appeal? We don't care!! His embassy isn't gonna save him, so he just needs to stop whining and take his medicine. Once again, he shouldn't have been over here killing people and this might not have happened. And, as if we care what the Honduran government thinks about it?! They don't have any oil..lol

Illegal or not, anyone in this country is subject to our laws. Just as we would be subject to thiers. Period.
