West Firefighters Battle Blaze In Large Grain Bin

WEST (July 3, 2014) Firefighters from West and several surrounding communities were battling a fire at a grain storage facility Thursday morning but within a few minutes had the blaze under control.

The fire was reported just after 7 a.m. at 107 South Roberts Street at a business called West Feeds, Inc., owned by Ervin R. Jupe.

There was no indication of injury.

The fire initially was reported in a grain storage bin that is contained within the plant.

The fire was located near the intersection of Roberts and Spruce streets and about two blocks of Spruce were closed to traffic while firefighters worked to secure the area.
