WACO (July 16, 2014) A woman and two men were arrested Tuesday night after officers responded to a report that scrap metal was being stolen from a construction site in South Waco.

Tommy Earl Lewis, 57, Larry Dowayne Corsey, 52, and Peggy Joyce Johnson, 40, all were held Wednesday in the McLennan County Jail in lieu of $1,000 bond each, charged with engaging in organized criminal activity/theft.

Waco police were sent at about 7:15 p.m. Tuesday to a business construction site in the 1000 block of South 8th Street after a caller reported that someone was taking scrap metal from the site, Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said.

When officers arrived they took Lewis and Johnson into custody at the scene and a short time later found Corsey in the Baylor University area after he had walked away, Swanton said.

Corsey was taken to Providence Health Care Center emergency room to be treated for a cut on his arm that he sustained while loading some scrap metal into a pickup truck.

After he was treated he was taken to the McLennan County Jail for booking, Swanton said.

Officers also impounded the pickup truck in which they found scrap metal they believe was stolen from the site.
