Burglars Break Into Business, Break Through Walls To Reach Others

WACO (July 17, 2014) Officers fanned out early Thursday in an area near North 19th Street and Park Lake Drive looking for at least two burglars who broke into one business and then broke through walls to reach others.

Officers were sent at around 4:15 a.m. to business in the 1900 block of Park Lake in response to a burglar alarm.

As they arrived they spotted some men trying to pry their way into the back of a business in a small shopping center, but when the suspects saw the officers, they ran.

Officers set up a perimeter and began searching for the burglars, but two hours later still had not located them, Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said.

Swanton said officers discovered that the burglars broke into one building in the center that’s rented out for parties and receptions and removed a big screen TV and several other items.

Then the burglars broke through a wall into an adjacent vacant building, but found nothing to steal, he said.

The men then tried to break through another wall into the tobacco store next door, but were unable to breach it.

They went outside and began trying to pry their way through the back door, which tripped the burglar alarm.

They also broke outdoor lights at a nearby hair salon in an effort to conceal their activity, police said.

A description of the burglars wasn’t available Thursday morning.
