(August 14, 2008)—A man and a woman were found dead Thursday at a home near rural Colfax, the Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office said.
Authorities are investigating whether the two, whose bodies were discovered by a contractor, were the victims of a murder-suicide.
Chief Deputy John Turner said the bodies were in the backyard of the home.
A gun and a knife were found nearby.
Deputies said four young people, ranging in age from 13 to 19, were in the house.
Turner says a contractor who was to do some work at the house discovered the bodies around 11:15 a.m. Thursday and contacted authorities.
The names of the man and woman were not immediately released.
Further details on how they died were pending.
Officials did not immediately offer details on any relationship between the pair.
Colfax is about 70 miles southeast of Dallas.
