(August 19, 2008)—The National Weather Service has extended a flash flood watch for much of Central Texas through Wednesday morning as an upper-level low continues to produce heavy rain in some areas.
The watch is now in effect until 7 a.m. Wednesday for Hill, Freestone, Bell, McLennan, Falls, Limestone, Leon, Milam and Robertson Counties.
A flash flood warning expired early Tuesday afternoon for Falls, Limestone, Leon, Robertson and Freestone Counties...but not before drenching rains sent flood waters rising. The Limestone county town of Kosse was particularly hard hit with water in homes reported!
Late Tuesday morning, the National Weather Service issued a small stream flood warning effective until 4:30 p.m. Tuesday for southern Freestone County, southern Limestone County, northern Leon County and northern Robertson County.
Rainfall in the area had tapered off, but forecasters say as much as six inches fell Tuesday morning.
On Wednesday, forecasters are calling for a 60 percent coverage of rain before odds taper off at week's end.
