(August 19, 2008)—Temple police were looking for a suspect and a stolen car Tuesday after a Central Texas man was carjacked while he was stopped at a local intersection.
Calvin Washington, 51, of Troy told Temple police he was stopped at the intersection of South 28th Street and East Avenue I around 10 a.m. Monday when a man opened the passenger door his car, displayed a small-caliber revolver and ordered Washington to drive him to a location between Troy and Moody, police said Tuesday.
Washington complied and the carjacker released him without injury.
Washington then walked back to the Temple area and reported the incident, police said.
The carjacker was black, about 20 to 25 years of age, stood about 5-feet 9-inches tall and weighed about 140 pounds.
He has what police described as a ragged beard.
The stolen car is an olive green 2004 Ford Taurus.
It has a Texas license plate that starts with the letters SVT, but the last three characters of the license number are unknown, police said.
Investigators are asking anyone with information to call the Temple Police Department at (254) 298-5500.
