BUCKHOLTS (August 25, 2014) A Hempstead woman died and a man and three teenagers were hurt Sunday when two trucks collided head-on near Buckholts.
A Department of Public Safety official said Beverly Dykes Kilpatrick, 62, of Hempstead, died just after 11 a.m. Sunday when the 2013 Ford Explorer she was driving collided with a 2001 Ford F-250 pick up truck that was pulling a flatbed trailer.
She was alone in the SUV.
Robert Dwayne Coleman, 52, of Spring, was taken to Baylor Scott and White Medical Center, in Temple, where he was listed Monday in stable condition.
Three teenage boys, two of them 15- and one 13-years-old, also were taken to Scott and White McLane Children’s hospital, where all were listed in stable condition on Monday, the DPS spokesman said.
The investigating DPS trooper said the Ford F-250 was eastbound on U.S. Highway 190 near Buckholts when the left front tire blew out and it crossed into the west bound lane where it collided with the Explorer.
