Twins Left In Hot Car Die Save Email Print

A | A | A

(August 25, 2008)—Investigators are questioning the mother of 3-year-old twins who died after they were left inside a car for more than two hours in northeastern Kansas.

The Topeka, Kan. Capital-Journal reports that the twins were found in the car parked in the driveway of their homes two hours after they were reported missing near Topeka.

The girl, who was in the back seat of the unlocked car, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The boy, who was in the front seat, died later at a hospital.

The temperature outside the car was about 75 degrees but authorities say it could have been 30 degrees hotter inside the car, with the windows rolled up.

I also have a 3 year old daughter and have never once left her in the car. Believe me, she will let you know before you close the door that she wants out. How can you not hear them or think to look in the car? This is so sad and I cannot even imagine what their last minutes must have been like. May God have mercy on their souls.

OK, I HAVE 6 GRANDCHILDREN, WHEN THEY ARE AROUND THERE IS NOT A MOMENT OF SILENCE. THE MINUET THEY GET QUIT, YOU START CHECKING. NOT 3 HOURS LATER!!!! THIS SOUNDS STRANGE TO ME. THEY NEED TO REALLY CHECK THIS OUT. MY 5 YEAR OLDS CAN'T EVEN OPEN THE DOORS WITH OUT ASSISTANTS. I DON'T GET IT, HOW CAN YOU NOT KNOW THEY ARE MISSING FOR THREE HOURS.

This story is so tragic! I am a mother of twin girls 3 years old, and kids are so busy and so fast! I have been outside in the yard myself and seen one of mine go to get in my parked car and scolded them for it. I have since then locked my car after exiting it every time! It can happen so quickly and I feel for these parents, it is absolutely devastating. My prayers are with the mother and father of these precious children. The lost of a child is so awful, and the sickness in that mother's stomach oh I can just imagine how hard it is right now. I am praying unconditionally for them, God be with the family. I cannot bash the mother for I never want to be in that situation, and my two can play outside for long periods but I stay out there with them and watch over them while they play, otherwise the same thing could of happened to me that day my two three year olds opened my car door and got inside! A good little scolding for them, an AWARENESS FOR ME! LOCK YOUR CARS AFTER THE KIDS GET IN!

How can anyone forget where they left their children.HOW CAN THEY FORGET ONE SITTING IN THE FRONT SEAT WITH THEM! They all make any excuse to get out of murder. They need to be in a car and suffer the same way.If you dont want kids dont have them or give them to people that would love and cherish them.

Posted by: dd Location: texas on Aug 26, 2008 at 11:34 PM
I have 2 and 3 yr old grandsons and I have to keep my car locked when they visit because they love to go get in it and they know how to lock the doors. It is a game to them to lock NANA out they giggle and laugh when I chase them out of the car. We have to keep a very close eye on the active little ones or they could get in deep trouble. It is a constant thing. turn your back for a second and they are gone. Wasn't someone watching those sweet babies, beacause it took time for them to die.

The mom should be shot. No mercy. She didn't show much mercy for those kids, did she? I'd put two in her chest and one in her head.

I know someone that works for CPS in another area & had a call from the police about a child left while a mom "exercised @ the gym". The child was only 4, and the way he explained to the worker, while on the stretcher was "my body was crying all over". A small glimpse in to what these children suffer before dying, since a passerby saw, and his fate did not end in tragedy.

Twins! After 2 hours, and they were reported missing but yet the parents didn't think to look in the car? I'm suppose to believe this? I've got 4 boys, believe me, they are noisy, and when one is asleep, the other is awake, they are first off the car, and then everything else, they always come first! What I think, parents don't want the babies! Legalized murder, leaving children in the car! They need to come up with a proper punishment. Then we won't read about children being left in cars! Sigh, how terribly sad for the babies!

Posted by: Texan Location: Texas on Aug 26, 2008 at 09:34 AM
This woman had better be thankful that we have a merciful God because if were my choice, I'd put her in the same situation she put those babies in, and then I'd let her rot in hell. Children should be protected by their mothers not MURDERED by them!!!

This is the 3rd occurance like this in the past couple of weeks. I have a 3 yo granddaughter and believe me, you will never forget she is in the car with you. She talks and talks. Also, if I were to get out of the car and leave her, she knows how to unbuckle herself, unlock and open a door. She would not stand for me to walk away from the car and leave her there. What is going on with these parents and kids?

Posted by: Dont get me started Location: Waco on Aug 26, 2008 at 07:12 AM
Didn’t you hear? These children allegedly opened the car and got in by themselves. Ok let’s assume for a minute that 3yr olds can open and close a car door, what were they doing outside unsupervised? I am beginning to wonder how many of these babies had insurance policies on them.

Posted by: Hmmm on Aug 25, 2008 at 10:28 PM
Wow, that is the third time it happened in one month..How can you forget about them? They somehow had to make noises or something..Unless they fell asleep BUT you know you gotta get kids out of the car before you walk in the house?? *sigh* so sad!!

Posted by: dmg Location: waco on Aug 25, 2008 at 09:46 PM
Law enforcement is plan stupid ! People have now found a way to kill their children in a manner that they can get away with murder. Just plain sick!!!! Sorry, but whoever does this to these poor little kids deserve to die. Put'em in a hot car and let them suffer to take their last breath. I just dont buy for a minute that these folks are forgetting their kids in a car.....its happening way too much and it needs to be stopped. The only way to stop it is to prosecute!!

Posted by: S Location: Robinson on Aug 25, 2008 at 09:27 PM
So who reported them missing? I don't understand how she left them in the car, forgot they were in the car and then reported them missing. What a crock of $#!t!!!!!!

Posted by: C Location: Bellmead on Aug 25, 2008 at 08:18 PM
OMG!! Not again, Lord have mercy, what is going, i am the mother of twins they are grown now, but God knows i never, never, no matter where i went or how far i had to drive i never ever forgot about my twins, or my daughter, oh this is just awful i could just scream, stupid people. my heart bleeds for those babies.

Isn't Kansas one of those religious red states where it is almost impossible to get an abortion?? Not all people are ready to be parents, the main reason why abortion should remain legal.

Posted by: malya Location: killeen on Aug 25, 2008 at 07:22 PM
I can't believe that in less then a month we have to red yet another sad story about how precious children were ignored or "forgotten" in a hot car. I am a mother of 2 boys and I have NEVER forgotten them in the car even when they are sleeping and I am tired myself from a hard day at work I have managed to remember to get them out. I'm sorry but i am sick and tired of this lame excuse of "I forgot them." HOW THE HELL DO YOU FORGET YOUR CHILD???? These needs to stop. These people need to be punished. It's NOT okay to forget your child. May God bless all these children who have been victims of this crime.

Holy $$@!! This is about the 3rd such incident across the country in the last 5 days!!! I was just reading about another one this morning!!! Technology has to come up with something to save these children.

Posted by: No Name Location: No City on Aug 25, 2008 at 05:01 PM
Well, enough is enough! Since the children were forgotten, go ahead and give them a lobotomy, sterilize them and leave them in a hot vehicle and forget about them.

Posted by: Michelle Location: Waco on Aug 25, 2008 at 04:22 PM
I have 2 children and often wonder after reading these sad stories how someone forgets their children in the car. I take both of my children to school everyday and yet somehow I do not forget to drop one off. These mother's in my opinion are being let of WAY TO EASILY. All I can say is I dont get it? I guess...If you dont want your children GIVE them to the people that want them but are unable to have them.

Posted by: Me Location: Central Texas on Aug 25, 2008 at 03:33 PM
I agree with those claiming that that this is just an easy way of getting rid of unwanted children, as there are typically 'no charges filed.' These people should be lynched, sending a clear-cut message to others that IT IS NOT OKAY TO IGNORE/FORGET YOUR KIDS!!!

Posted by: Janace Mc Location: Waco on Aug 25, 2008 at 03:19 PM
What a sad excuse for a parent. It is VERY unfortunate that children are victimized repeatedly and it is equally devastating that the people these children love and seek security from, are the very ones that have their hand in evil and harm these precious innocent babies. Too bad "Eye For An Eye" cannot be carried out legally.

how can u forget your babies in the car!

Posted by: susiebw Location: kempner on Aug 25, 2008 at 02:54 PM
I knew there would be more little ones killed this way, because all the mama has to do is scream and say it was an "accident". she forgot she had children, forgot they couldn't get out by themselves, forgot it was summer! god help the children.

Posted by: WTF Location: waco on Aug 25, 2008 at 02:29 PM
WTF???????? I don't believe this? TWINS!!!!!! No one was talking, laughing, being loud the WHOLE TIME???? I think this has happened way to much and people are just trying to see what they can get away with? Like My friend said if you are drivng a bus we MIGHT understand but a car or a truck that is just an excuse. May God Bless the babies to heaven.

Posted by: pat Location: texas on Aug 25, 2008 at 01:07 PM
there is no excuses to leave kids inside a vehicle, it is unfortunate this happened but come on lady what were you thinkin oh thats right you werent

Wonder how long the "apologists" take before they jump on here. These people are criminals. While I am sure they are heartbroken, it does not excuse their behavior.
