(August 25, 2008)—Killeen police said Monday they’ve arrested two men in connection with a pair of robberies at the same local motel.
Jonathan Joseph Endl, 17, of Killeen is charged with two counts of robbery of a business and Rick Nelson Taveras, 19, of Killeen is charged with one count of robbery of business in connection with the holdups.
Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke set bond at $100,000 on each charge, and both remained in the Bell County Jail Monday.
The charges stem from the Aug. 2 and Aug. 10 robberies of the clerk at the Motel 6 at 800 East Central Texas Expressway in Killeen.
Police responded to the first robbery just before 12:30 a.m. on Aug. 2.
The clerk told investigators two men had entered the business and one had jumped the counter and demanded cash.
Both then fled.
Eight days later, at about 1:15 a.m., police responded to the same motel to investigate another robbery.
In that holdup, one man entered the office, demanded money and then fled.
Investigators were able to determine that one man was identified in both robberies and to identify the second man who participated in the holdup on Aug. 2, police said.
Officers arrested Taveras and Endl after spotting a vehicle in which they were riding Friday in the downtown Killeen area.
