(August 27, 2008)—A worker at MTTS Granite and Marble at 305 Granite Dr. in Waco was injured Wednesday afternoon, evidently because of a glitch in the computer that operates a precision granite-cutting machine.
Emergency units were dispatched to the business just after 12 p.m. Wednesday in response to a report that the worker had become trapped in the cutting machinery.
Waco Fire Marshal Jerry Hawk said a large arm on the cutting machine swung around and trapped the unidentified worker after the machine somehow reset itself.
The man’s coworkers were able to free him before firefighters and paramedics arrived.
He was taken to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center with what Hawk described as serious injuries, but is expected to recover.
