Police Arrest Three After Shooting, Standoff Save Email Print

A | A | A

(August 28,2008)— Police arrested three suspects Thursday morning after a shooting at one Temple apartment complex and a standoff at another nearby complex that led to a neighborhood evacuation and lockdowns at two nearby schools.

Twenty to 30 police officers maintained a perimeter around the Beverly Arms apartment complex where the three suspects were barricaded in an apartment after the shooting at the nearby Emerald Green apartment complex at 620 West Elm.

The three surrendered without incident around 10:15 a.m. Thursday, ending a standoff that started around 8:30 a.m. when Temple officers responded to the report of the shooting and found the apartment manager lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to the chest.

He was taken to Scott & White Hospital.

Information about his condition was not immediately available.

Witnesses told officers they saw three men run from the complex to the neighboring Beverly Arms complex.

Residents there told officers the three men were armed and that they had run into an apartment.

Officers evacuated the complex and nearby homes.

Lockdowns were instituted at Holy Trinity Catholic High School and at Temple High School.

The Temple High school lockdown was lifted just before 10 a.m.

Temple the hot spot once again. I hope they really sock it to them 3 guys, especially to the one that pulled the trigger. The way I see it a person knows what they are doing and they get what they deserve no matter what. I hope all 3 of them suffers. the one who pulled the trigger should get death and the other 2 should get life without parol!

Yeah well i live in temple and i know they guys that did this. i just hope that the manager gets better cause i don't wanna see those guys get life in jail or the death penalty. although i don't agree with what they did, still don't think they should get the penalty. as a christian i will pray for the family of the victim and pray that God comes and touch the souls of these three young guys.

This is why people are scared to call in to TPD and let them know about drug activity and stuff. This is what happens when they find out it was you calling in.
