Watchful Resident Nabs Neighborhood Burglar Save Email Print

A | A | A

(August 29, 2008)—Two Waco teenagers were in custody after a man who discovered his house had been burglarized made a citizen’s arrest.

The resident detained Anthony Renee Perez, 17, in the 2400 block of South 24th Street in Waco, police said, after a burglary just before 4 p.m. Thursday in the 2600 block of South 25th Street.

Police said the man discovered his house had been broken into and spotted two teenagers leaving the backyard of a neighbor’s home.

When he yelled at the teenagers to stop, police said, they fled toward South 24th Street.

The man got into his car and gave chase.

He detained Perez until police officers arrived.

Officers later searched a house where Perez and his 15-year-old step brother lived in the 2500 block of South 26th Street.

They recovered items stolen from the man’s house as well as from another residence three doors down.

Perez was taken to the McLennan County Jail.

The minor was taken to the juvenile detention center.

Police said he was already on probation for burglary of a habitation.

To "EXperts homies" If he is such an expert why did he get his expert a$$ caught? Punks should have been shot.

What pathetic excuses for human beings. Lock them up and throw away the key, the selfish jerks don't deserve to be free to steal from honest people again.

The ancient Romans got it right. All theives should be crucified, even juveniles. You steal = you die a torturous death. I bet that would make people actually work and get off their lazy butts.

I agree, thank God that these thugs were caught. One can't help but to think where the parents were? What are we teaching our kids now a days. My husband and I work our butts off to provide for our family and low lifes like this come in and think they can steal what we have worked so hard for. For the robbers- get a job and quit stealing. They don't deserve to be in the same society as all us hard working people. That really makes me furious that there are soo many people/ teenagers today that think they can steal whatever and then get away with it. They don't need a second/ third chance.

Good job homeowner! The little gangster thugs just thought they couldn't get caught. Next time, I say shoot them!

Posted by: blueberry Location: waco on Aug 29, 2008 at 07:06 PM
Thank you for catching these kids. My parents live on the next street and these kids ransacked there home. They did not have nothing valuable but they did take a lot stuff. The will fail again and they will let the kids back out to do what... DO IT AGAIN!!! There is no telling how many homes they did this to. Thank you again neighbor we all should watch out for each other.

Hmmm. I made a very similar comment, yet Anonymous' was posted and mine ignored? Freedom of Speech at its finest, I see.

GOOD FOR HIM BUT IF IT WAS ME I WOULD HAVE SHOT THEM!

Posted by: Me Location: Central Texas on Aug 29, 2008 at 11:19 AM
I applaud this homeowner! Too bad he didn't utilize his legal right to shoot these wastes of life, though... as they'll probably be back on the streets in a matter of days/weeks victimizing others' residences.

Probation always works, don't you know. That way they can break into more homes or businesses and have another hearing to get more probation.

Put the little punks so far under the jail that someone will have to shoot biscuits to them. Lazy little B., don't worry how hard people have to work to have anything in this day and age. Put them on a chain gang for a while, then maybe they will figure it out.

Posted by: C Location: Bellmead on Aug 29, 2008 at 07:54 AM
Ok, now Waco, i was always seeing Temple in the news here lately, but i guess the Waco teens felt that they needed to catch up and start committing crimes here. I wish i knew what the soultion would be to stop all of this burglary, and home invasion crimes that seem to be happening all too often. 2 thumbs up to the home owner that caught one of the burlars, i know you were risking your own safety, but i guess you did what you had to do, God bless you for not being afraid to take a stand in your neighborhood

Way to go!! Got to stop these little ghetto thugs.
