The National Weather Service has issued a RED FLAG WARNING in effect until 6 pm for Bell, Bosque, Coryell, Falls, Freestone, Hamilton, Hill, Lampasas, Leon, Limestone, McLennan, Milam, Mills, Navarro, Robertson, and Williamson counties in Central Texas. The combination of strong south winds, low relative humidity, and dry vegetation will create an extreme danger for grass fires across Central Texas this afternoon.

Texas Pastor Sentenced For Sex With Teen Save Email Print

(August 29, 2008)—Former Fort Worth pastor James "Jay" Virtue Robinson, IV has been sentenced to 10 years probation for sexually assaulting a teenage church member.

He was sentenced Friday.

Police said some of the liaisons with the teenage girl happened inside Southwood Baptist Church, from which Robinson resigned in July, a month after his arrest.

He received deferred adjudication, which means if he completes probation, the case will be dismissed and no conviction will be on his record, although the arrest will remain.

I have sympathy for him. no one made her participate & she wasn't forced.Yes he should have known better. FW Star Telegram has more info. He is branded for life.

he also received a lifetime membership on the sex offenders list and a 5,000 fine... I think it was light because the girl was a willing partner at 16. To make a long story short it was a plea deal.

That is sad. This girl will have to live with this for the rest of her life and he is walking away free. Nothing will be on his record except for the arrest? What a wonderful court system we have. This gives him the chance to do it again.

I feel so sorry for the young lady. She and her family are in our prayers. As are the people of the church. As for the punishment of a very sick individual, it's not enough. 10 years probation was givin because he was a pastor. He should receive a harsher punishment. He of all people should have received a harsher punishment. Start looking at the history of "Church Leaders" track records of sexual crimes, or pornografic crimes, or crimes of murder. Not very harsh punishments given, or they are not convicted all together, all because they are "men of the cloth".

What?!!!! He sexually assualted a teenage girl and only got probation?!!! Is he not a child sex offender? He should be doing some jail time and be listed as a sex offender. I don't get it !!!!!!!!!!!

Only 10 years probation, that SOB got easy the Judge must be kin to him. What about the girl, did the Judge thought what the teenager went thru, what kind of damage has done to her, emotionaly and phisicaly, and to do it in the church he is a sick man.
