(August 31, 2008)--Carnival Cruise Lines said Sunday a five-day voyage on a cruise ship that was scheduled to dock in Galveston on Monday has been extended two days because of Hurricane Gustav.
The Carnival Ecstasy, which visited Progreso in the Mexican state of Yucatan, will "remain at sea at a safe distance away from the storm" and will return to Galveston on Wednesday, the cruise line said in a written statement.
The next cruise on the Ecstasy, which had been scheduled for five days, has been changed to a three-day "Cruise-To-Nowhere" that will leave late Wednesday afternoon and return to Galveston on Saturday.
Passengers on the three-day cruise will receive a 50 percent discount on their cruise fair and a 50 percent discount on a future cruise.
They may also cancel for a full refund, Carnival said.
