(September 1, 2008)—An early-morning police chase on U.S. Highway 75 in north Dallas ended in a deadly crash.
A Dallas County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman says a sport-utility vehicle driven by a suspected drunken driver slammed into two other SUVs at the intersection of a U.S. 75 frontage road and Mockingbird Lane near Southern Methodist University.
Two people in one of the SUVs that was struck were killed in the collision.
The man and woman who were in the vehicle police were chasing were critically injured.
Five SMU students were in the other SUV that was struck.
Several were injured, but none had life-threatening injuries, police said.
Sheriff's department spokeswoman Kimberlee Leach said the chase began after the suspects drove off from a traffic stop on U.S. 75 shortly after 2 a.m. Monday.
