Investigators Say Missing 3-Year-Old Is Probably Dead Save Email Print

A | A | A

(September 2, 2008)—Authorities in Florida who are investigating the disappearance of 3-year-old Caylee Anthony say lab tests confirm there had been a decomposing body in the trunk of her mother's car.

The Orange County, Fla. sheriff's office says investigators now think there's a strong probability that Caylee is dead.

The sheriff's department says other evidence not made public also leans in that direction.

Caylee's mother, Casey Anthony, remains jailed on unrelated charges and has been considered a "person of interest" in the case.

She has been offered limited immunity in exchange for her cooperation, but the offer expires Tuesday.

Caylee was reported missing in mid-July, about a month after she was last seen.

Casey Anthony told investigators she dropped the girl off with a baby sitter and went to work.

Sheriff's detectives say that's a lie.

If this was my little girl missing I would not be shopping at Target or keeping everything I know bottled up inside unless I was hidding something! I would do everthing I could to find her, cooperate with the police, I would tell the police any and everything I could to find my child and since the Mother is not cooperating and has lied from day one it does not take a rocket scientist to figure this one out!

To "Me" who posted on Sep 3, 2008 @ 2:56 pm....how do you think that abortion is any more justified? Sure the little girl was murdered by her mother...but what exactly is it that you think abortion is? Why can't these people who don't want children either be responsible enough to 1. Keep it zipped or 2. Use some kind of contraceptive or 3. Give the child to a family who would love them?

My mother lives with me and she would notice one of the children gone a few days - why didn't the grandmother come forward in june - there is more going on here - the whole family seems to KNOW.

this mother should not have been let out of jail. she is a sick woman.there r so many couples who cannot have children that would have taken caylee and raised her as their own. There is no reason for this to happen to an innocent child. as for caylee i hate to hear that this happen to u. i pray that u did not suffer behind what ever happen to u.I hope that this mother will never be freed from jail ever again. she should have never been released from the get go.i bet that the bounty hunter that posted that bond feels real stupid now.what caused him to post bond for a murderer? all evidence so far points to her killing that innocent child.what did caylee do or any child do to deserve to be killed.and for the grandmother of caylee u deserve to be in the same boat as your daughter.that was your grandbaby.i would have let her ROT in jail. I am a mother of 2.i am appauld at this situtation. what ever the reason is NO CHILD DESERVES TO LOSE THEIR LIFE BEHIND WHATEVER REASON.

Give me ten minutes with her alone in a shuttered room - i'd get the answer!

Posted by: me Location: copperas cove on Sep 3, 2008 at 02:56 PM
Put her out in the population in jail stop keeping her locked away in her own private little cell with special requests and visits and someone will beat the truth out of her or at least get revenge for what she's done. I don't even know this woman but when I see her big horse smiling face I just wanna go to Florida and beat the crap out of her uuuurrrrgggghhhh

Posted by: me Location: not here on Sep 3, 2008 at 01:20 PM
and they want to make abortion illegal! this is the @#*t that happens when you let people have kids that dont want them!

Posted by: Anonymous Location: Kempner on Sep 3, 2008 at 11:43 AM
To learn the truth, she needs to be waterboarded. There are professionals nearby where she lives that can have this case solved. Say this is disgusting, but whatever she did to that child is worse.

Her 15 minutes ended 2 months ago. Get her off CNN & all the other broadcasts that have made her "infamous." I'd bet the grandparents are complicit in this as well. Bring back torture, and she'll tell us what happened...

Jason, I agree with you. I've known people who are in complete denial with their grown children, even if abuse is suspected of their own little grandchildren. This is sad and sickening.

When Casey Anthony, is treated like anyone else, she will sing like a bird. No comfort, no bracing her, no special treatment from a bounty hunter and bail bonds man, no attonery making special visits all hours of the day and no media attention. Treating her like she some kind of movie star on opening night! She has wasted tax dollars, time, and given false hopes to the good people who care for the child! She has used ever opportunity to get the attention for her own sick, warp, self interest! Time to stop giving her what she is feeding on! An angle is dead and Casey has blood on her hands! Let her sit and stir, that is how to break down a spoiled little brat! She has information that could bring this to a closure. The most harden people will break in time!

a horrible crime yes, and three years ago when the girl told her mother she did not want to keep the baby, but her mother forced her to keep Caylee, that was the beginning of the crime! The grandmother is not blameless here either. They both need to pay for this horrific crime!

It feels like that we are consistly reading and hearing how parents are killing their percious children. It's sickening as a mother of 5 to hear this. I agree with SN, Amy, and Jason in what they said. I just take comfort in knowing that one day all these people will have to stand in front of God and face his judgement. We just have to remember that these precious children are now being takin care of by Jesus himself.

Blessed be the children. In the end, this mother will pay her dues if she has harmed her own flesh and blood. Let's say a prayer for the child~ CAYLEE ANTHONY

Posted by: Linda Location: Central Texas on Sep 2, 2008 at 02:43 PM
Thank God the sweet child is in the loving arms of Jesus. If she had lived to telling what horrid and crual life she may have had to live. The mothers Ha that is said lightly parents the grandparents of the child is just as guilty as the so called Mother for not facing and seeing that the Mother HA again just did not want the little girl.

If they have evidence that there was a decaying body in the car then they can do DNA to match it to Caylee. The mother AND grandmother are obviously hiding something. Charge them with murder and keep them in jail until they talk. Which ever one talks first gets life instead of the death penalty. STOP wasting taxpayer money on this ignorant little [woman] and get it over with. This young girl is obviously enjoying all of the attention she is gettting.

Posted by: S Location: Texas on Sep 2, 2008 at 02:15 PM
I have been keeping up with this story since it started. This is this girl's daughter WHY would she wait so LONG to report her baby missing? She is at fault for this whole thing, and she knows what SHE DID or HAD DONE to her baby girl. I say she needs to rot in jail, and die the way that precious baby girl did but 10 times worse!

Posted by: Dont get me started Location: Waco on Sep 2, 2008 at 02:08 PM
Well lets look at this. The child was last seen a month before she was reported missing? A MONTH! Hmm sounds fishy from the get go. If my children had been missing for more than 5 minutes, that means just out of sight, or ear shot, they would have been reported missing. I saw grandmother on the news last week, shaking her shovel and preaching, she knows something, I can feel it in my bones. Poor baby God bless her, and mother...burn in hell.

Posted by: Me Location: Central Texas on Sep 2, 2008 at 01:46 PM
String her up!

Posted by: From 'round here Location: Gatesville on Sep 2, 2008 at 01:40 PM
Now I am just sick to my stomach as well! I couldn't help but cry while watching the grandmother plead on the news. I have a 3-year-old little girl named Kaili (Caylee) and I could just feel the knots in my stomach. How can ANYONE...particularly a mother...take the life of such a beautiful little girl?! I pray that the case is soon broken, the sick freak brought to justice and that baby laid to rest. Of course, I truly do pray that she's alive and well, but if that's not the case, then I pray for the previous! May God be with baby Caylee!

Posted by: AMY Location: TEMPLE on Sep 2, 2008 at 12:46 PM
WE NEED THE TRUTH IN THIS CASE!! HOW COULD SHE DO THIS TO HER CHILD, HER BABY GIRL, HER MINI ME, I MEAN WHY WHY WHY????? WHAT WAS SO IMPORTANT AND GOING ON IN THIS MOTHERS LIFE THAT HER BEAUTIFUL ANGEL WAS NOT #1. I JUST DONT GET IT. WHY KILL HER-GIVE HER TO THE MANY OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE LOVE TO GIVE AND CANT HAVE CHILDREN. OR GIVE HER TO YOUR PARENTS...SHE DIDNT HAVE TO DIE

Posted by: SN Location: Bryan on Sep 2, 2008 at 12:09 PM
What a B***H! I cant understand how someone can kill children! What a beautiful child Caylee was. That beautiful child now rests in the arms of Jesus, and her *ahem, so called *mother* will one day face the wrath of Jesus, as will all sinners

Posted by: Jason Location: Fort Hood on Sep 2, 2008 at 11:50 AM
Now this is truly sickening to my stomach. I feared that from the beginning. I think the grandparents know the truth but are in complete denial that their daughter killed their granddaughter or at least had something to do with it. May justice be served and my prayers go out to Caylee's family.
