(September 2, 2008)--Joseph Bert Raborn, 20 of McGregor, was in custody Tuesday in Coryell County, charged with four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after a drive-by shooting early Monday morning in Oglesby that left four people with minor injuries.

Raborn was ordered held in lieu of bonds totaling $200,000.

He was arrested after a resident reported just before 1 a.m. Monday that a man with a shotgun had fired two shots at a group of people in FM 1996 in Oglesby.

All four victims were treated for minor injuries at the scene.

They told investigators that they were shot after asking the occupants of a small car to turn down the vehicle’s stereo.

In response, they said, a man in the car produced a shotgun and fired two rounds in their direction.

The car then sped off in the direction of Highway 107.

A description of the vehicle was broadcast and a short time later, a McGregor police officer stopped a vehicle that matched it.

Coryell County deputies recovered a shotgun they believe was used in the shooting and arrested Raborn.

Maybe next time instead of asking them to turn down the radio, they should just shoot the idiots in the car. Seems just as logical to me.

What a TOTAL DUFFESS! Kids wont grow up until they sense responsibility and pay in some way for their own failures...people: quit treating them like bad behaved children. Quit babbying them. You name the punishment, but if it does not work, then maybe it is time to go back to the way criminals paid for their deeds back in the old west. Be shocked, but nothing these days is changing the course of behavior of these derelicts. Send the bill for the rope to whoever failed him as parent(s).

I know him plenty well. Well, what about that DWI last Founders Day the night before the BBQ cookoff for example. He is one of those hell raising McGregor Boys.

What business did he have in Oglesby I dont mind you coming over to visit. But not to drive the streets and cause trouble. Are you the one that has been driving down the street for weeks with loud music? There is nothing over here for anyone out of town. Cause trouble in your own town.

Posted by: Sandra Location: Temple on Sep 2, 2008 at 05:06 PM
So, if you're rudely blasting a stereo at 1 a.m. so loud that it bothers other people, and they ASK you to turn it down, then you feel they deserve to be shot at??? And if one of those people is maimed or killed, they deserved it because they were ... what? Bothering you? But you bothered them first. Should they have shot at you because you bothered them? Maybe time in jail will help you grow up, learn some manners, and think for once about how your attitude could use some adjustment.
