The National Weather Service has issued a RED FLAG WARNING in effect until 6 pm for Bell, Bosque, Coryell, Falls, Freestone, Hamilton, Hill, Lampasas, Leon, Limestone, McLennan, Milam, Mills, Navarro, Robertson, and Williamson counties in Central Texas. The combination of strong south winds, low relative humidity, and dry vegetation will create an extreme danger for grass fires across Central Texas this afternoon.

Driver Charged In Crash That Killed Texas Newlyweds Save Email Print

(September 2, 2008)—Uriel Perez Palacios, 22, of Dallas was charged Tuesday with two counts of murder and three counts of intoxication assault in a traffic accident early Monday that claimed the lives of a newly wed Texas couple and left five SMU students injured.

Palacios was hospitalized in fair condition Tuesday.

His passenger is in critical condition.

Authorities say Palacios, who has four previous DWI arrests, was driving erratically when he sped away from a deputy, ran a red light and his vehicle struck two SUVs.

Two newlyweds in one SUV were killed, Erika Clouet, 24, and German Clouet, 23, of Irving.

The five SMU students were the other SUV.

One suffered a broken arm and two others were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

To the families of the victims involved, you are in my prayers. I hope that the one who were injuried have a quick recovery. To the families and friends of the newly weds, I pray that God grants you peace in knowing that they are in a better place now and most importantly that they are in that better place together. I am so sorry for your lose and I also pray that the juditial system will one day soon stop repeated drunk drivers from being able to get behind a wheel. God Bless You!!!

I wonder, do you have to have a driver's license to get a DWI? Hmmmm......curious, isn't it, that our state can keep track of how MANY dwi's one has, but not anything else? Sadly enough I know at least 4 people that have had multiple DWI's. They have no licenses, but continue to drive, two have the breathe thing, but they pay people to blow in to it if they are drunk. I call the police to say, my family member is drunk, and driving has had many dwi's, give description of car and location, and I am told unless an officer observes drunken driving, they can not stop them, soooo......what do you do? If I try to take the keys, and get in to a physical altercation, who goes to jail? Me. It has nothing to do with lawyers or money, just a lack of police enforcing the laws that are written, lets chase down those people with the loud music, and leave the drunks alone to kill our innocent family and friends!

IM NOT RACIST BUT WHY THE HELL HAVE A BORDER TO SEPERATE THE TWO STATES IF YOUR JUST GOING TO LET THEM ILLEGALLY CROSS IT MAKES NO SINCE IF YOU ASK ME THIS IS WHATS WRONG WITH OUR COUNTRY THEY HAVE LAWS AND REGULATIONS BUT DONT OBIDE BY THEM IF YOU HAVE MONEY AND A GOOD LAWYER YOU CAN ALMOST GET OFF ON ANYTHING THESE DAYS. TO TO TO MANY PEOPLE HAVE DIED OR BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED SO MY QUESTION IS HOW MANY MORE PEOPLE HAVE TO LOSE THEIR LIFE BEHIND IGNORANT NON CARING HUMAN BEINGS. I HOPE JUSTICE IS SERVED TO THESE INDIVIDUALS!!!! MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH THE FAMILIES THAT HAVE LOST THEIR LOVED ONES!!!

If He is an illigal, why wasnt he deported when he had got caught the 1st or 2nd, or..etc.. time Driving While Intoxicated? Especially living in Dallas.. This means he isnt an illegal. He will pay the price, but in Tx.

It doesn't say he had a valid license to drive. A lot of folks just get behind the wheel even without the benefit of legality.He should have however,not have even been free on the street. Bleedin heart liberals. I would like to see the local political factor explain this to the grieving families. Some how " We are sorry for your loss" Would be a mute point coming from the juditial system.

If you're going to live in the good ole USA, then you have to abide by our laws. Personally, I hope you get sent back to Mexico and let them pay for your care while you sit in jail.

hadnuff ....because people are too %$#* scared that "racism" bs will be yelled. Had he been white, he wouldn't have 4 priors, he'd be jailed after the 2nd. They live their lives here like they're still in lawless Mexico. There's too many people "including our government", who think we should turn a blind eye. I've said before, "welcome to our future", if you want to call it one.....

If he had 4 DWI's already, why was he still driving? I know the law can't physically restrain him from getting behind the wheel if he is not in jail, but someone needs to figure out a way to keep drunks from behind the wheel!

4 DWI arrest????? Why in the world was this person OUT OF JAIL on the STREETS DRIVING??? Bet you 10 to 1 he cries out for the mexican consulate for help to get him off those charges....

Good grief! At 22, he'd ALREADY been arrested for DWI four times?? Why was he still on the street??? When will our justice system STOP being so lenient to drunk drivers?
