Mills Due Back In Court Wednesday Save Email Print

A | A | A

(September 3, 2008)—The former director of Downtown Waco, Inc. will be back in the courtroom Wednesday.

The attorneys for Margaret Mills filed a change of venue motion in July citing that media coverage of the case has made it impossible for Mills to get a fair trial in McLennan County.

The pre-trial hearing will decide if Mills will be awarded that change of venue.

Mills was indicted back in November for allegedly for stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from Downtown Waco, Inc.

Judge Matt Johnson’s ruling on the change of venue is expected Wednesday.

Come on now people. You know that she is using the money to buy her freedom... She'll get probation or a sentence in a "posh" federal prison.

How can a mother do this, and as old as she is. Makes you wonder how she raised her children, poor kids (or maybe not so poor)

I truly hope the judge denies her request for a venue change. I think she needs to be tried right here in Waco where the citizens she allegedly ripped off live and work. If found not guilty she can hold her head high and walk out of court. If convicted she can face the music in front of the people she ripped off. And more importantly face the citizens of Waco. If she did steal that money then one only wonders how many businesses could be downtown earning the city tax money that aren't, because she padded her wallet with the money to be used to help downtown grow?
