(September 5, 2008)—Copperas Cove has named veteran firefighter James Michael Baker as its new fire chief.
Baker will assume the job on Oct. 6.
He succeeds Dennis Haas who retired on May 31.
Baker will oversee a staff of more than 40 firefighters responsible for fire and EMS coverage not only in Copperas Cove, but also Coryell, Bell and Lampasas Counties.
He holds degrees from LeTourneau University in Longview and Kilgore College in Kilgore and has served as fire chief San Marcos and Bonham and as a fire department lieutenant in Marshall, where he retired after 21 years of service.
