(September 10, 2008)—A Texas man accused of head butting and biting his ex-girlfriend in a show of love has been sentenced to 50 years in prison for the woman’s abduction and rape.
A jury Tuesday in Angelina County convicted Tavaeras Lamont Kimble, 33, in the 2007 kidnapping and sexual assault case.
Kimble was sentenced to 50 years for aggravated sexual assault, 10 years for kidnapping, five years for burglary of a habitation and fined $17,000.
The sentences will run concurrently.
Kimble must serve at least 25 years before he will be eligible for parole.
Prosecutors say the woman was kept two days against her will until Kimble allowed her to go into a grocery store, where she asked a worker for help.
Defense attorney Bill Agnew said there was insufficient evidence for a conviction.
