Generator Fire Claims Life Of Texas Woman
A generator fire has claimed the life of a Texas woman whose home lost power as a result of Hurricane Ike.

(September 18, 2008)--The first fatality related to a generator fire in a home that lost electricity because of Hurricane Ike has been reported in Port Arthur.
Sgt. Kris Boneau of the Port Arthur Police Department said a woman died after the generator she was refueling ignited around 7:40 p.m. Wednesday.
The woman’s house was left without power in the wake of Hurricane Ike.
Boneau said the woman was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Her name was not immediately available.
Boneau said it was the first generator fire fatality related to Hurricane Ike in this Beaumont-Port Arthur area.
The death toll from Ike stood at 18 in Texas Thursday.
Across the U.S., the hurricane is linked to 51 deaths.
Thursday morning, 1.9 million people were still without electricity.
