(September 21, 2008)—A 2-year-old Texas boy was accidentally stabbed to death during a fight between his mother’s boyfriend and one of the boyfriend’s brothers.

The boyfriend, Keenan Bernard Conner, 23, got in a fight Friday afternoon with his 16-year-old brother.

Officials said one of the brothers produced a kitchen knife, and 2-year-old Avery Rhodes Williams was accidentally stabbed in the chest.

He was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The teenager was detained for questioning, but no charges were immediately filed.

Why in hell weren't they both charged? That's bad, and neither of them should get off, and why did the mother allow those kind around her baby anyhow?

We need more information or an update on this case, because you just don't stab the wrong person accidentally!

That's the problem - CPS doesn't get involved until it's way too late - the child has to be severely injured or killed before they even look into what's going on. That's a shame. CPS is suppose to protect kids not help put them in the ground. Rest In Piece Texas Baby.

No no no no! No young child should even have to witness such an altercation MUCH LESS end up the victim! I really could care less that it was an "ACCIDENT" both men need to be punished for being so foolish! May this sweet child rest in peace.

Marla-How many people do you know who still wear rose colored glasses??? I'm not judging the mom but, I will bet my paycheck that she has seen the signs of her boyfriends' behavior and either chose to ignore it or didn't think it would affect her. There are so many people today who seem to think that they are untouchable...ignorant really. ALWAYS GO WITH YOUR FIRST INSTINCT. It never fails!!!

Brody ...Amen!! How stupid can idiots be to knife fight around a little child!! Some charges need to be filed here!!

Posted by: Supergirl Location: Robinson on Sep 22, 2008 at 04:49 PM
I think it's a little to late for CPS to be involved, ya'll. @@

Why is it that people automatically think the mother is to blame??? Did you stop and think of the possibility that the mother wasn't even present at the time the fight acured. The boyfriend could have been baby-sitting. A mother just lost her child, show some compassion. I don't know the people involved but my prayers are with them. And I pray that nothing like this happens to any of you who are juding this mother before learning ALL the facts. Remember that GOD is the ONLY one who can judge a person. God bless this child.

I could go on and on about this, but I'll just keep it short and sweet: Another innocent child is dead because of stupid people! There should be a written exam that is required to identify the morons and prevent them from breeding! May God watch over this poor child, the way the PARENTS WERE SUPPOSED to!

This just breaks my heart to hear this. It is becoming too common now days that kids are getting hurt or killed by step parents. Whether this was an accident or crime both guys need to be in jail. They should have taken it outside. As for the mother, I hope she was not there. If she was, she should be locked up too. I hope she doesn't support her boyfriend over this. That would be very disrespectful. She should honor his memory. Rest in peace Avery.

My son is almost two and I cried when I ready this story...broke my heart. There are a few people in my and my husband's family that I will ABSOLUTELY not allow to watch my son no matter what because of the things they do and how they treat others. I always hear mothers say that they didn't have a choice in deciding who should watch their kids cause they have to work. HELLO!!!! You always have a choice. As much exposure as we get on TV, newspapers, etc., finding the right sitter for a reasonable cost is simple. Come on people...WAKE UP!!!

Execute both of these scumbags. What type of person gets into a knife fight when there is a child close enough to get stabbed?? Proof that they care nothing about life, so let them forfeit their own.

What the hell is wrong with people? And I agree...how was a 2 year old accedently stabbed? I hope the authoritys look into this a little better. Rest in Peace Little Guy..may angels watch over you forever

You can't "accidentally" stab someone to death. What a crock of bs.....so sad.

Posted by: Sandra Location: Temple on Sep 22, 2008 at 10:30 AM
Young people please note: IT DOES MATTER WHO YOUR FRIENDS ARE. This young mother lost her precious baby because she chose a boyfriend who carries a knife and is a violent person. The boyfriend had intent to hurt someone on this occasion, and his original intent was to hurt his own brother. This type of person should not be allowed near a precious baby, much less be the mom's boyfriend. Sometimes in life you don't get to "re-do". Make good choices the first time.

What no charges were filed. For goodness sake a 2 year old is dead. What is wrong with Houston, Texas???

Well I thought about being the voice of reason but ya know what? Spay, Neuter and the death penalty all seem reasonable in this case...

Posted by: Anonymous on Sep 22, 2008 at 09:29 AM
I sure they were fighting over something really worth fighting for, like drugs or drugs or stolen property, our a football jersey, shoes, you know important stuff like that. some people in this country have no business having kids

Posted by: sharon Location: cove on Sep 22, 2008 at 09:14 AM
Are you kidding me? Seriously - how does this happen?

Posted by: b Location: WACO on Sep 22, 2008 at 09:06 AM
usually the reason no charges are immediately filed, is the law generally gives the parents 7 days to grieve and bury their child, then arrests them.

Posted by: JC Location: Waco Area on Sep 21, 2008 at 08:55 PM
I personally think the 2 parties involved be charged to max wheather he is 16 or not and the other well he should get the vein juice and hurry up with it i cant afford to keep feedin all these idiots on death row... But The little kid I hope he is in a better place now and I know he is being well taking care of but some is right on here, We need to have a law that says certain ones have to get spayed...

Posted by: Heather Location: Waco on Sep 21, 2008 at 08:55 PM
NO CHARGES WERE IMMEDIATELY FILED?!?!?! I swear... back in the day, all three of them would be in jail. People wonder why crap like this happens... Child endangerment laws NEED to be tougher, and the punishment alot harder!!! Also, why would a 2-year old be put in a situation like that?!

Posted by: Anon Location: Waco on Sep 21, 2008 at 04:33 PM
CPS definately needs to be involved. How do you accidentally stab a 2 year old. There must be more to the story than what is being disclosed. As a mother, how do you put your child in that kind of danger.

Posted by: Anonymous on Sep 21, 2008 at 02:33 PM
idiots on drugs. should be mandatory spay and neuter for idiots like this.

Posted by: Anonymous on Sep 21, 2008 at 01:05 PM
Where was his mother a.at the time and Cps needs to look into that
