(September 24, 2008)—Waco police Wednesday released the names of the 16 men and two women arrested in a two-day prostitution sting on Sept. 18 and Sept. 19.

The sting targeted areas of North and East Waco.
Eleven of those arrested were issued summons to appear on Oct. 2 in municipal court to attend “John School.”
The others were taken into custody because of prior acts of violence on their records, police said.
The number of arrests in the two-day sting was lower than in two stings last summer, police said, during which police arrested more than 100, police said.
The reason for the decline may be the activity of the Waco Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit, which has been working in areas of town where residents have complained about prostitution, police said Wednesday.
