(October 1, 2008)--Kenneth Martin Matoska, 19, was in the Coryell County Jail Wednesday, charged with sexual assault of a child in an incident involving a 14-year-old girl.

Gatesville police arrested Matoska Friday at Gatesville High School.

Investigators told News 10 the incident happened Sept. 12 at a business in the 2900 block of South State Highway 36.

Gatesville Police Chief Nathan Gohlke said the victim reported she and some friends went to the business where she said she was touched in an inappropriate sexual manner.

One of the victim’s friends later told the girl’s mother about the instance and the mother reported it to police.

Matoska was in the Coryell County Jail Wednesday in lieu of $10,000 bond.

I don't think anyone said that people asked to be raped , the point people are trying to make is....................these are two kids and sometimes people of these ages are allowed to date with the full blessing of everyone they know. Then if it goes sour the parents try to have the older party arrested with rape charges..........which statutory while legal should in no way be judged the same way as someone forcing a person to do something against their will. Unfortunately, it is all lumped together and in this case if this boy is convisted of a sex crime with a minor he will be labeled as a sex offender the rest of his life while she gets nothing. And for the ........she was only 14 crowd..........it would be the same if she was 17 and a day before her 18th birthday. I am sure the facts will come out.

This is the main flaw in the sex offender listings that the state keeps. They classify everyone as a sex offender for life even if the alleged victim lied about their age, knowingly committed a sex act with them, and then screamed bloody murder because they were caught. It was originally intended for older adults who committed sex crimes against underage children. But it is way out of control. You cannot look at a young person anymore without being labeled a sex offender even though there was no criminal act.

I think there is definitely more to this story and I agree with dude here. Many girls now days dress like hookers and act like them too! My son is 8 and he has girls telling him he has to CHOOSE between them and make one of them his girlfriend! He's 8yrs old and in 3rd grade for crying out loud! Girls these days are FAST! For SO long, we have told girls "it's ok to say know if a boy is trying to get you to do something you don't want to" Well, the tables have TURNED and we need to start telling BOYS that they don't have to do something just because a girl wants them to and is leading them on!

Bet she looks and act a lot older than 14. Just take a look at the local high schools.

I want to thank everyone for their support and words of encouragement during this most difficult time. I ask that anyone with knowledge of this incedent, be it for or against my son, step forword and be heard. Let's allow the courts to handle this matter and not try it in the court of opinion. I also ask that the privacy of my other children be respected, for they are not involved in this matter and should not be judged by it. To all Kenny's friends and supporters, please leave this girl and her family alone. Do not take matters into your own hands and say or do anything to them. Again, I request that we allow the courts to handle this matter. For the truth will come out. Thank-You!

Wow! How is this the girls fault? An adult cannot have sex with a minor, an adult cannot touch a minor in a sexual manner, they are ADULTS. My God people! What most of you are saying is that girls are asking for it. What does her "history" have to do with anything? She was 14! A child does not and cannot understand what the repercussions of these adult situations can be. That's why adults are responsible. It sounds to me like you think that this is equivalent to a woman asking to be raped because she is wearing a skirt. That mentality is what makes victims want to bury the incident instead of pursuing justice. This mentality makes young girls want to try to "forget" what happened. I feel sorry for you people.

its a sad case i feel for the parents of the accused, because the same thing happen to a family member.the girl had a crush on the young man and he ignored it and she sets him up and yells rape ,ther r some evil young girls out there,u gotta becareful.

First of all; why does he look like he has been beat up? People do not realize what it does to label someone a sex offender; that will be with him the rest of his life. There are different definitions of a sex offender; but we class them all the same. We should not judge anyone; we do not know all the facts. We just assume and we all know what that means. Teenage girls have been trying to look older for generations and as parents we help them out or turn a blind eye. God bless all families involved.

Accuseds' mother: I think alot of people are on your side in this situation. God knows it's every mothers worse nightmare when their son's "come of age". However, you really aren't helping your son by discussing this on a public blog. You're angry and you have absolutely every right to be but please err on the side of caution for your sons' sake.

to Kenny's mother....I agree Zon is the place to start. His taste for the young girls in our town needs to be soured. My teenage daughter has been friends with Kenny for some time and we have never heard or thought ill of him. I hope this all comes out in the wash. This town picks its victims and persecutes them while allowing the real predators to continue to "hunt" our children. A lie is always a lie. Her or one of the girls there will slip up and say something that proves this girls behavior was just as wrong as the behavior she is accusing another of doing.

There was no relationship between these two, her friend set them up that night telling kenneth that she was 17. Someone needs to ask the 19 year old Zaun and Shane about their nights with her. The whole story will come out in trial. How do I know this, I am the accused's mother. I have heard her side from the detective and I've heard my son's side. And if I were on a jury, I can point blank tell anyone that this was a setup. I don't say that because I'm his mother. I say that because of the evidence.

This "man" looks about 14 himself. Why was he arrested at school? Could they not have gone to his house? I hope if they find in the investigation that all the facts as not as they were told that they will arrest the girl at school as well for lying. People meed to be careful when they make allegations like this becasue he will be a registered sex offender after this.

a lot of 14 year old girls these days dress like ladies of the evening, and the parents let it happen. i heard a phrase on the radio this morning about theis same subject. "prostitotts"

This sounds funny to me I thank there is more to this than is being told I willing to bet that this girl and boy was more than just a girl and a boy sounds like the girls are hidding something I thank and this is just me I thank the girl was sneaking around with this boy and it got to seriouse and like I said I know alot of little 14 15 16 yr old girls that lie to the guys about thier ages and the guy goes to jail thanking he has been going with a 17 or 18 yr old or mom and dad let them see each other and date until sex gets involved and than the poor guy goes to jail with a record for the rest of his life My friend did that thang the guy she let her daughter go with and when she found out they had had sex she went and turned the poor guy in and he went to jail and the mom and dad let this guy hang out with thier 15 yr old and go out on dates and stay late and watch tv No I cant believe all of the girls today they just lie to much to go with older guys until something happens..

a better use of this space would be telling of the 26yr old male with 7 counts of sexual assault of a child. there is no way to get the jilted girlfriend opinion there.

Posted by: T Location: Gatesville on Oct 1, 2008 at 08:08 PM
Maybe they should question the other young men in the community she has been seen with.

Posted by: Jonathan on Oct 1, 2008 at 05:09 PM
ok well look at both sides of the story the girl could have had a secret relationship with this boy, and just so happens he may have touched her while friends were around her and it then was out in the open. DO A LIE DETECTOR test on the girl to see if shes really telling the truth!

Posted by: Anon Location: Waco on Oct 1, 2008 at 04:24 PM
Sounds to me like a girl that was just trying to get attention. A 19 year old guy with a 14 year old girl? This just sounds like he broke up with her and then she was just trying to get him back. They are both such at a young age this whole story sounds suspicious.

Posted by: PM Location: G'ville on Oct 1, 2008 at 04:07 PM
Probably "took so long" because the case had to go to Grand Jury before they could arrest him. The Wheel of Justice spins slowly.

Posted by: John Location: Waco on Oct 1, 2008 at 12:37 PM
Why did this take so long? Did they have a bad breakup?

Posted by: TAXPAYER Location: WACO on Oct 1, 2008 at 10:41 AM
Just another reason for young men to ask for a birth certificate of anyone they are with before doing anything. The majority of 13-17 yr old girls look like they are 25. Don't judge unless you know both sides of the story.I am sure she is not 100% innocent. And yes, I am a woman.

Posted by: CC Location: CT on Oct 1, 2008 at 10:16 AM
hmmm...something doesnt sound rite to me. now and days these 14 yr olds are fast lil girls, so i wouldnt be suprised if she lead him on, but who knows, only they do. He should have known better tho...

Posted by: dude Location: texas on Oct 1, 2008 at 09:56 AM
i dont know about this aplies to this case, but i would recomend parents not let thier 14 year old girls dress like 18 year old hookers. that would at least deter a few of these cases from happening.
