Disciplinary Action Taken Against Teenage Girls Involved In Bus Fight Save Email Print

A | A | A

(October 1, 2008)—The Waco Independent School District said late Wednesday that disciplinary action has been started against two teenage girls involved in an after-school fight Tuesday on a school bus that sent one to the hospital and another to juvenile detention.

The fight broke out around 4:15 p.m. Tuesday aboard a full school bus in the area of 12th Street and West Avenue.

Police said the two girls, one 15 and the other 16, got into the fight over a previous incident.

The 16-year-old slapped the 15-year-old, who then pulled out a razor blade and used it to slash the other girl’s face.

The 16-year old was taken to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center for treatment of a laceration above her eye.

The 15-year-old was arrested and taken to the Bill Logue Juvenile Detention Center.

Administrators reviewed a videotape of the incident Wednesday and afterward a school representative went to the home of one of the girl whose face was slashed to inform her and her parents that she was being referred to the district’s Alternative Campus.

The other student, who remained in juvenile detention on Wednesday, will also be referred to the Alternative Campus once she’s released from custody, the district said.

Parents need to get more involved with their children and school. Parents want the teachers to discipline!! Ha!! Parents need to discipline their own children and get involved!!!!!!! This situation probably would not have happened if parents had been more involved with their kids at school AND at home!

Sure send them to an Alternative campus. I am sure they wont fight there...and what about that football player? Whats his status?

Posted by: MMH Location: BELTON on Oct 3, 2008 at 11:23 AM
Hey Mark, what the heck are you thinking!! You basically are encouraging kids to take weapons to school when they should be going to a)their parents; b)a teacher or c)the principal. They both got exactly what they had coming to them. Just like out in the real world, if there is a problem, you go to your supervisor (teacher). If the problem is not resolved, you go to the manager (vice principal) and so on. To cut someone simply for being slapped just tells me how bad some of these kids are these days. Whatever happened to just fist fighting off school grounds and calling it even????

What you people dont know it that the girl who cut the other is pregnant. She doesnt want to tell her mother and she thought that going anywhere but home would be better then tell her parents.

Forget their ages, slap 'assault' charges on both of them, and try/convict them both as adults!!! A little 2 to 5 jail time years might change their attitudes!!

Posted by: Driver Location: Hewitt on Oct 2, 2008 at 01:14 PM
First off....it's not the driver's fault that the kids have no home training. This could have happened in the hallway at school or in the bathroom. Does that mean you wouldn't let your kids go to school? Don't blame the school bus driver. It's the parent's fault. What was the girl doing with a razor blade in the first place? I mean really?

Posted by: sad Location: waco on Oct 2, 2008 at 11:16 AM
When will parents take the responsibility of teaching there children what is right and wrong back!! It is sad that that child thought it was ok to carry a razor blade to school!!! I hope that both girls are punished and spanked for fighting!!!Be a PARENT!!! You chose to have and keep them!!! RAISE THEM!!!

Actually most parents do train their kids....and the "the apple doesn't usually fall far from the tree"

Posted by: mark on Oct 2, 2008 at 10:17 AM
Hey the way I look at it, she was defending her self and the 15 year old shouldn't be punished for that. I do think cutting her was a little extreme but when provoked by someone bigger sometimes it takes a little help to defend yourself.

These kids grow up with animals and become animals themselves and do the stupid things like this they both need more than what they are getting to teach them a real lesson and others for their actions who try to do the same.

Beautiful you are just what is wrong with parents today. Some day your children will have to go out into the world and sheltering them isn't helping. The two girls got in a fight with each other over a fight earlier with each other. They didn't attack some random child on the bus. And to add another point to all the people that thought the football player should get another chance...if he gets back in school and is playing football with a felony charge then these two need to be taken out of the alternative center as well.

Beautiful, are you going to shelter your kids all thier lives? I rode a bus and never had an experience remotely close to this. As a parent, I (as many will/should probably agree) do not "train" my children. I "train" my dogs. I teach my children.

Posted by: Beautiful Location: Waco on Oct 2, 2008 at 02:02 AM
Thank God that wasnt may child and this is a example of why I would never let my kids ride the bus I will take them to school and pick them up. Parents just dont train there kids right these days and its sad.
