(October 3, 2008)—A 52-year-old Rockdale convenience store owner was in critical condition Friday at Scott & White Hospital in Temple after he was shot three times during a late-night robbery.
Two men confronted Gurmail Gill, owner of Gill’s convenience store, as Gill closed his store around 11:30 p.m. Thursday, Rockdale Police Chief Thomas Harris said.
They demanded money and when he said he had none, they shot him with a handgun, Harris said.
Gill was airlifted to Scott & White.
Both robbers were black, Harris said.
One was about 5-foot-7, the other about 6-feet tall, Harris said.
Both were wearing masks, Harris said.
Other details weren’t immediately available Friday morning.
