7-Year-Old Breaks Into Zoo, Goes On Killing Spree Save Email Print

A | A | A

(October 3, 2008)--Zoo officials in Australia say they are planning to sue the parents of a 7-year-old boy who broke into a popular Outback zoo and fed animals to a giant crocodile.

Zoo director Rex Neindorf says the boy jumped a security fence, and then went on a 30-minute killing spree during which he bashed several lizards to death with a rock and fed them to a 440-pound saltwater crocodile.

The boy also threw several live animals over the fences surrounding the crocodile's enclosure.

Neindorf on video from the zoo's security camera, the boy's face remains largely blank, "like he was playing a game."

The 13 animals killed were worth more than $5,000.

Police said they are unable to press charges because of the boy's age.

Why would somebody do this? They say too young to press charges. there is such thing as "The Juvi" and "Mental Hospital"

I agree this kid needs to have his butt worn out with a belt. Thats what is wrong with kids. Parents are to scared to discipline them.

Where was security??????

Posted by: Anon Location: Waco on Oct 6, 2008 at 04:00 PM
I understand that this child did a horrible thing, but we need to not jump to conclusions before we know what is wrong with him. Obviously the parenting has something to do with this. How could a 7 year old do something like this? There is something wrong with this picture. I haven't seen the tape of the incident, but I can't believe that there is not something deeper going on that is not being released. Kids don't just do things like this.

Posted by: PM Location: Gville on Oct 6, 2008 at 12:02 PM
He wouldn't have gotten any worse punishment in Texas. Under Texas law a child under 10 basically does not exist, so he would have been released to his parents with no charges. Sucks, but that is the law. Busting his butt probably wouldn't do any good. Sounds like he is too far gone for that. Serious meds and therapy, along with institutionalization may be the only way to protect the public.

Posted by: Brody Location: Mexia on Oct 6, 2008 at 08:54 AM
Sounds like a good ol leather belt butt whiping is in order. This kid needs to be punished and then given mental care. This kind of behavior, from child or adult, is unacceptable in civilized life. I hope the parents do what is needed to turn this childs life around before it goes any further.

"Too young to press charges." ???? Is he too young to put in a mental hospital?? My middle child is 7 and I just can't imagine her doing something like this. That is sick, and it's even worse that it's a little kid (first or second grader) doing it. Sick, sick, sick..... and VERY scary.

Posted by: Don Location: Texas on Oct 6, 2008 at 06:09 AM
This kid is definitely psychotic or schizophrenic. Killing animals is the first sign of a serial killer. He will need to be medicated the rest of his life. Maybe Australia, unlike the USA, still has institutions to house these poor souls. And, what makes anyone think we don't have the same problem in the USA? We have had succesive generations from the 1960s on who have no morals, no values, no conscience, and no emotion. They would rather kill you than be in your presence.

I feel so bad for those poor animals that this kids killed. How this kid got this far with this terrible situation is beyond me. Something needs to be done to prevent this from ever happening again.

Iama mother of 4 kids. Two girls and two boys. Where is Mom and Dad? This child needs professional help. I hope the courts see this and get it for him.

Momof2, I concur! I raised a son, and I watched him all the time, not just to teach him to do the right things, but also for his own safety, and also because as a parent I knew that whatever he did, I would be held responsible for. But, if this kid were my son, I would tear his butt up 1st, then I would turn him into the authorities myself, ...this kid better be glad he's not my child...

Just how in the heck did this lil kid break into the zoo? Where were the parents? I dont know about the laws in Australia regarding juvniles, but this kid needs to be taught a lesson! His parents need to be held accountable for this, maybe that would teach them a lesson!

Posted by: anonymous Location: Austin on Oct 4, 2008 at 10:39 PM
I read somewhere today 100,000 children are going to be tracked (health reasons). This is one who needs to be tracked. I am serious. I cannot understand why this child was out alone without parents and investigation into the parents also is in order. This is really scarey.

Posted by: momof1 Location: teague on Oct 4, 2008 at 08:54 PM
i see a serial killer in the making....... 7 year olds can go to juvie hall and this one should.......

Posted by: Jeff Location: Temple on Oct 4, 2008 at 03:57 PM
Bust the kids butt! Thats the problem with the world today parents are afraid of the kids and not the other way around.

Posted by: PeggyLou Location: texas on Oct 4, 2008 at 02:35 PM
The child knew what he was doing so there for he needs to be charged with the crime in lock up till he truns 21 along with his parents I'm sorry if you don't know where you 7 yr old is something wrong with they too.

Posted by: stacy Location: killeen on Oct 4, 2008 at 11:50 AM
this child is seriously mentally disturbed, and needs some major psychiatric evaluations. I agree that he is probably a serial killer in the making, how many children do you know that willingly break in someplace, and feed smaller animals to bigger ones, and smash the heads of others. That is sick. I would be afraid of waking up in the middle of the night with this child trying to kill me. He needs help, as well as punishment for what he done.

Posted by: Texas Location: Texas on Oct 4, 2008 at 07:33 AM
The story stated that the childs facial expression showed NO emotion. Obviously this child suffers from some form of psychosis. It has been my experience that there is no helping people like this. Unfortunately this child will only escalate, even with treatment. He has no emotions, he doesnt care for living creatures. Serial killer.

Posted by: Anonymous on Oct 4, 2008 at 02:51 AM
what was a 7 year old during out at that time of night anyway. Were was the parents? My thought he got these type of acts of TV, Video games and just plan mental case. Get him some help befor his hurts a human another class mate. I believe charges should be charged against the parents becuase he is to young to pay for his behavior. Make him work it off or make the parent pay the cost to replace these animals.

wonder if this kid has pets at home and I wonder how he treats them .I knew a boy who would dig a hole and put his cat in it cover it up let it die and would laugh when he would tells his parents When he was 13 or 14 he killed his grandma stoled her car and road around with her in the back seat all weekend so if they dont do something with this kid he will probbly start the same thang and where the h..l was the parents.....

Posted by: Tim Location: Waco on Oct 4, 2008 at 01:24 AM
First of all I dont know where the parents where and what the heck they where doing . But not to punsh this kid. I woop his a!!!s just like I got when I was a kid. Cant file charges to youung cont woop them and that is why we have 14,16,17 killing the parents and others now cause we cant punish them so what they buy him some ice cream and take him home NO WAY.....

Posted by: Re Location: Waco on Oct 4, 2008 at 12:04 AM
Uh, this is disturbing on so many levels. He better be lucky he didn't do this in Texas. We don't mess around here. And yeah, when I read the title of this story, serial killer traits came to mind. The parents should be punshised. The kid should be detained...

Posted by: sherry Location: gatesville on Oct 3, 2008 at 11:07 PM
Where was mummy and daddy when all this was going on? Crazy! This kid needs locked up!

Posted by: Sister Location: Waco on Oct 3, 2008 at 05:26 PM
That kid maybe just 7 years old but if he is not helped out with his mental problems we are looking at a future serial killer! I would like to throw him in the cage with the crocodile... see how he likes it

Posted by: Joh Location: Waco on Oct 3, 2008 at 04:57 PM
Ok, first of all what in the H!!L was a 7 year old doing jumping a fence at a zoo, and able to do such horrible things? If the child is too young to have charges filed against his little bad a-- then the parents should be punished, how stupid is this, makes no sense at all, if the little bad a-- is killing animals i can just imagine what he's gonna grow up to be, just my opinion

Posted by: Jim Beam Whiskey on Oct 3, 2008 at 04:42 PM
What a nut case

Posted by: momof2 on Oct 3, 2008 at 03:31 PM
Are you kidding me, he is too young to press charges? I guess he will be old enough when he is 20 and turns serial killer... He better be glad he is not my child.

Posted by: Bill Location: Waco on Oct 3, 2008 at 02:35 PM

Posted by: Anonymous on Oct 3, 2008 at 01:25 PM

Posted by: Anonymous Location: Waco on Oct 3, 2008 at 01:08 PM
Wow is all I can say about this...were the parents not concerned on the whereabouts of the boy? Who taught him to act in such violence....?

Posted by: Jon Location: Belton on Oct 3, 2008 at 12:51 PM
Future serial killer. Poor kid.

Posted by: Heart-Of-Texas Location: Waco on Oct 3, 2008 at 12:27 PM
Give him a job maintaining the Zoo, for about 25 cents an hour, and make him work until the $5,000 is paid off!!! Back-To-The-Future!!
