(October 06, 2008) - A Gatesville man is was in the Coryell County Jail Monday, charged with seven counts of sexual assault of a child in incidents involving two sisters who were 13 and 15 when the assaults began.

Chief Coryell County Deputy Sheriff Joe Blakley told News 10 John Thomas Jasper, 26, was arrested at the Gatesville Police Department on Sept. 30.

Blakley said the assaults began in 2006 and an investigation was initiated then, but police were unable to gather enough evidence for an arrest warrant.

Jasper then disappeared, Blakely said, but last month he turned up in Gatesville again.

This time investigators had gathered a significant amount of evidence, and when he showed up at the police station, he was arrested, Blakely said.

The two victims live in the Gatesville area.

Coryell County Justice of the Peace Jimmy Wood set Jasper’s bond at $140,000.

I am sick to my stomache...I cannot believe the way things are these days...children being sexually abused and child porn...what is wrong with our generation?! What happened to the bill that John Edwards signed? The one that states first time offenders get 25 yrs. minimum?? Why does this guy have a bond?? I am a parent of a 10 yr old little girl, and I take my responsibility as a mother VERY seriously, but when something happens to our children, can we not look at the justice system with a little fault? This guy has a huge bond set, but it doesn't mean he can't post it. Setting bond is like giving another opportunity to these sick people. Everything from this picture to the story behind it disturbs me on so many levels...I hope these girls get the help they need to start the healing process and I HOPE this guy gets outted while in jail. He will get whats coming to him. He won't be smiling then.

He certainly doesn't appear to be ashamed of himself. Maybe he's happy with himself, but one day he'll have to explain himself to God. I bet he won't be smiling then.
