(October 8, 2008)—Rockdale police have one person in custody in connection with Thursday’s convenience store shooting that sent one person to the hospital.
Demarcus Tindle, 20, of Rockdale, was arrested at his home Tuesday afternoon by Rockdale Police.
Luther Waddell, 36, of Rockdale, was arrested Wednesday afternoon.
Tindle remains in the Milam County Jail where he will likely be charged with aggravated robbery. Tindle’s bond was set at $100,000 Wednesday.
Waddell is being transferred to the Milam County Jail Thursday.
The condition of the 52-year-old Rockdale convenience store owner shot during Thursday’s robbery continues to improve.
Gurmail Gill, the owner of Gill’s convenience store, was shot three times during the late-night robbery.
Gill is listed in satisfactory condition at Scott and White Medical Center. He was moved from I.C.U. on Monday.
Authorities say Gill could be released from the hospital later this week.
Two men confronted Gill as he closed his store around 11:30 pm Thursday, Rockdale Police Chief Thomas Harris said.
They demanded money and when he said he had none, they shot him with a handgun, Harris said.
Gill was airlifted to Scott & White.
Chief Harris said the assailants were both black; one was about 5-foot-7, the other about 6-feet tall, Harris said.
Both were wearing masks during the robbery, Harris said.
