Presidential Debate Recap Save Email Print

A | A | A

(October 8, 2008)—The economy was a main topic of discussion as Senators McCain and Obama traded barbs in Tuesday’s town hall debate.

John McCain dismissed Barack Obama as "that one," while Obama mocked McCain's "Straight Talk Express."

Those were just two moments in a debate that saw the candidates go back and forth in deriding each other's statements and policies.

Each of the candidates did his best to pin much of the blame for the ongoing economic collapse on the other.

McCain also unveiled a new spending proposal geared at shoring up the housing market.

He said that, if elected, he'd order the federal government to spend 300 billion dollars to buy up bad home mortgages in order to absorb the difference between what is owed on the properties and what the properties are worth.

McCain said the proposal would stabilize the housing market and allow financially strapped homeowners to keep their houses.

Obama bluntly challenged McCain's steadiness on foreign policy.

He specifically called out McCain for singing "bomb, bomb Iran," and also for advocating "the annihilation of North Korea."

McCain said his rival "was wrong about Iraq and the surge," and other national security matters.

The third and final presidential debate is set for next Wednesday and can be seen on News 10 at 8:00 pm.

I'm still looking for Mickey Mouse on the ballot .. I think he could do a better job than any of the last idiots we've had in the White House lately

You are right, I can remember McCain back a few years ago and standing up to the republicans. I wondered what he was doing? I see now he really does say what he means. I also trust McCain. We don't need anymore problems in Washington besides what's happening currently.

Want a good example of Obomanomics? Take a good look at California. Run away taxes, social programs that suck the state dry, crazy enviromental laws, sanctuary cities, 8 billion in debt. That is how your country will look after Obama and his socialist ideas take hold.

This is to Amused in Waco: I watch CBS, ABC, Fox and CNN and I'm still voting for McCain. This is not the time to put a radical liberal with too many ties to unsavory people in the WhiteHouse. No way, no how, no if's!! McCain is not Bush and never has been. They don't even like each other. Only the gullible believe in Obama.

Posted by: Randy Location: Waco on Oct 11, 2008 at 08:20 PM
The bottom line is this. Everybody in D.C. has their hands in something they aren't supposed to. Whoever wins this election, it doesn't matter. Nothing much is going to change. The president doesn't have near the power that people think he does. It's the crooks in congress, not the crooks in the White House that run things.

To Amazed, I've been around for many presidental elections and have never seen so much democratic voter fraud going on. And ACORN is at the top of list. Obama trained them well in deception. But what can you expect from a eloquent speaking deceiver? You can't deny what Farrakhan said, it came out of his own mouth. And let's not forget about 20 yrs with Rev. Wright who preached nothing but HATE but just happens to love Farrakhan. Better do more research and not be the "idiot". If the claim on ACORN was not true, why are they shutting down offices and moving as fast as they can? Courtney, you're just lost with no facts. Obama's plan is manditory for children only. It won't help you but your tax dollars will go for other's kids.

To Amazed in Waco: Acorn did file suit agains Citigroup to force them to lend to low income applicants, and Obama was one or teh attorneys for Acorn that worked on that case... Courtney: In Canada, people are on a waiting list to receive major surgery, and many of them come into the US because our system is so much better. I for one don't want teh healthcare system screwed up by the same goverment control that has so "effectively" run the post office, Amtrak, and Fannie and Freddie (lets not forget the troubles of their sister Sallie Mae either).

That's right: you are a muslim or you are a christian. I just read in Mosul there were 3.000 christans fleeing due to threats to change to Islam or be killed. This is what is coming our way if we do not stop it now. Don't take any chances on someone who has friends in low places. That is the first red flag. We can't afford to start our decline from inside. That is why you have to pay attention to the candidates. It does matter who has been in their life and the influences that form the man's current views even if it comes out innocent and pure. I want McCain to risk it all revealing all he knows about Obama. Obama cannot deliver the goods but what he might deliver is something I don't want to know about. Remember our men in uniform and where they are. We need to win this war. Yeah for our servicemen. They will not be forgotten. McCain will never allow our right to defend ourselves. Think about it people

Posted by: Courtney Location: Waco on Oct 11, 2008 at 05:31 PM
Setting the record straight: Obama is not a Muslim, his mom was from Kansas and his father was from Kenya. He is a Christian. I like Obama's heath care proposal. I think it would really be great to give more control of health insurance to the government. This is what is it like in Canada and everyone there has health insurance. I've been ripped off by buying my own insurance before and it was not fun. McCain's health insurance plan is dangerous. It does not protect middleclass people from insurance companies' greed, and the money he is going to give us to buy our own insurance is coming out of our taxes anyway. Its a scam.

Posted by: Amazed Location: Waco on Oct 11, 2008 at 04:16 PM
Patriot: The Republicans 'investigate' ACORN and scream voter fraud every election! Even the 'off year' elections. So that is nothing new. McCain's ad claiming ACORN forced banks to lend money to poor people for houses and caused the finance crisis is ridiculous. Must be a pretty powerful organization with only 400K members in 1200 communities. They work to see that low and moderate income citizens to exercise their right to vote...something that scares McCain worse than alternative energy programs. And if you believe anything Farrakhan says, you are worse than silly. Anyone can post anything on youtube that they want...whether it is true or not, and a heckofa lot of idiots do. And the gullible believe them!

Posted by: concerned Location: central texas on Oct 11, 2008 at 03:29 PM
To Amazed - Please do your research before you make those accusations about what McCain did while a POW. Just listen to the statements made by his fellow POW's and you'll find out that is false. Because his father was a high ranking naval officer, he had a chance to be released early. HE REFUSED, and said he would stay and get through it just like the other POWs!! Attack the man on his policies if you disagree with them, bu please don't trivialize the horror he went through at the hands of the VC.

Amazed in Waco~~~~ how much of my tax money is going to you for the computer and internet service you use to sling your lying mud on here? Maybe you're paid by the Obama camp? Here's a banana, now take a hike.

Hey Amazed, come on, tell the whole truth. Mohammed (who said he talked directly to God) and his horsebacking riding warriors used terror, murder, rape and thievery to instill into the masses his own greed and thinking for a so-called religion. His tactics and character were the total opposite of Christ who warned us of FALSE PROPHETS to come. Sorry, but your McCain POW bashing has been debunked. I know what websites your going to, try one that's not biased. Vote for "That One" because only FOOLS ARE FOOLED.

One more thing...Obama is also running on a socialism platform. When he ran for the Illinois State Senate, he promised that no one making under $100,000 would be taxed more. When he won that senate seat, he passed legislation to raise taxes on people making only $40,000. He's a LIAR just like the criminals gay Barney and Dodd and all of NObama pals. Yes, it's time to take out the trash.....it stinking worse by the minute. Every time Obama goes up a point the markets plunge. "Hint".... our economy doesn't like liberal socialist dumocrats.

Posted by: Patriot Location: Texas on Oct 11, 2008 at 10:36 AM
Fact...you can't be a Christian and muslim at the (same time). Louis Farrakhan the Supreme Minister of the Nation of Islam aka NOI, is preaching again about how Hessein Obama has captured the youth and going to bring universal change. I saw this on the news last night and found it on youtube this morning. It was posted 3 days ago. Why would a supreme Islam leader be calling Obama the messiah?? Islam is the most "intolerant" of all the religions. There's also a video there where it shows Obama using "Hitler Like" tactics to brainswash our young. That's why there are now 11 states being investigated for VOTER FRAUD!! The MUSLIM Idea is alive and well with NObama ---------http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OowxMcVTjTE

Hey Mac! War hero McCain? He consorted with the enemy while a POW in Vietnam. Traded info on our soldiers for better housing and prostitutes. And that is Presidential material? I don't' think America can survive more of McBush. As for you religious right, do some research. There is more to Islam than the extremists. Just as there is more to Christianity than the extremists here. Do you know that Islam began with a son of Abraham? Yes, THAT Abraham! And there is a lot more riding on the election than Fox News tells you. BTW, Fox is owned by a staunch Republican. I'm voting for ""That One" - to quote McCain!

Posted by: TEXASLEGAL on Oct 11, 2008 at 07:41 AM
Most people supporting Obama know nothing about what he really stands for, they just base their support on his double speak. They do not realize what will happen when he ties our sovernty and rules of law to the UN, which he wants to do. How he feels we should pay hundreds of billions to the UN for world welfare. How he will take more of your pay to redistribute to others that won't do for themselves. Will finish killing our economy with his crazy energy policy. How he thinks you are to stupid to do anything for yourself without government help. How he will channel millions more to radical groups such as laraza and acorn. Give millions of invaders amnesty along with open borders. But then most people who support him are looking for handouts and government 'help'. And make sure your children can speak spanish. Teacher-I will chose a child over a tree any time.

I will vote for the war hero who has proven his values! Go McCain and lead this country from idiots and raciest like hussen obama and his mama! Show us the low life scum like barney frank, and chris dobbs. Take out the trash such as, al sharpton and this so call wright the preacher thug! After reading the comments a few things really seem to stick out. For instance, some say if you don't vote for Obama its because hes black, others say if you vote for McCain your voting for Bush all over again. Both of these statements are hogwash. Obama cut is how throat when he wrote his two books that show the real man. How can anyone that calls themselves Americans vote for someone that has "written" the things he did and McCain is not Bush. He is his own man with his own beliefs. Of the two, McCain is the only one to keep America a free America. Wake up people...

I taught school for 30 years. I tried to teach my children values --treat others like you want them to treat you. It is difficult for some to walk in another person's shoes. If you can do that, then you can learn to repect others. I call that tolerance. That was taught by Christ himself.

Posted by: TEXASLEGAL on Oct 10, 2008 at 01:52 PM
Our country was founded on christian values and look what has happened since we took those values out of government, schools etc. Ever notice how the people who preach about 'tolerance' are the most 'intolerant'?

Posted by: Retired Teacher Location: Waco on Oct 10, 2008 at 12:58 PM
No female makes the decision to have an abortion easily. That is a decision that needs to be made between a woman and her God. She is the one who carries this child for nine months. Child abuse is rampant. It would be nice if every child was wanted 100%, that would be an ideal world. But this doesn't seem to be the case. Those are the children we need to help. As far as trees, I love them, don't you?

Posted by: Tony Location: Waco on Oct 10, 2008 at 07:38 AM
Obama is a "Pied Piper"...by definition, a Pied Piper is 1) A person who offers others strong yet delusive enticements. 2) One, such as a leader, who makes irresponsible promises. BTW, Snopes.com is as Liberal as Obama. If you read Snopes' "Who is Barak Obama", they do everything/everything to try and dispel rumors about Obama BUT they can't actually answer the question, "Who is Barak Obama?"

Posted by: Suz Location: Waco on Oct 9, 2008 at 11:27 PM
"Kill a child?" You have to be kidding me. Did you watch the interviews that they gave on the matter or their beliefs or just assume?I personally do not support abortion but I am not willing to have my government decide for every woman what she can do. Check your facts before you posts people. Have some dignity. The whole Muslim idea has been debunked. He professes a deep love and personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Fact is, you don't really care about his religion, name or background. It really looks like one of two things 1. You care about the fact that a man of color and a man of dignity is about to be in the white house, that he will favor African Americans over you crazy white folks, which is ridicules. 2. Turns out you were brought up hard core republican or your church has urged you to be that way, so you view democrats with bias.If you are all about the gap between the rich and poor CONTINUING to grow, or the continued slaughter of OUR brave soldiers, vote McCain. OBAMA 08

Posted by: TEXASLEGAL on Oct 9, 2008 at 07:30 PM
Retired Teacher: Mccain and Palin may not be walking the 'christian walk' you are looking for, but what kind of walk do the democrats do when their motto is 'hug a tree, kill a child'?

Posted by: Mother of Three Location: Temple on Oct 9, 2008 at 06:34 PM
Oh my goodness "Stephen," you have issues with "being a prop" and obviously you need to be in control. I never claimed to have 'bragging rights' because I'm a mother of three. However, I should point out that all my children have the SAME father and we've been married over ten years (didn't get pregnant until AFTER we were married) so try that "sex ed" crap on someone else because it won't fly with me. All I asked you is where anyone in the posts said he shouldn't be president because he's black. Obviously you couldn't answer the question (because the answer would be NOWHERE) so you changed the subject and began attacking me. What a wonderful man you are. BTW, this whole world is made up of "hockey moms." (We prefer baseball but it's the same, lol.) I don't ever sit and do "like I was told." We stand up for what we believe is right and the bottom line is that Obama is WRONG. But keep attacking me, that seems to be what yall do best, and ALL you know how to do.

Hey Susan. Kinda shocked to get blasted by you. I think you must have misunderstood my point. FYI, my grandparents had a farm in Arkansas during the great depression and I have heard many of thier stories. They migrated to east Texas and lived in a log cabin for years. And I dont get paid "by the government" so no Civil Service job for me and while I dont need a farm, I dont get paid as good as you may think.

The American voters will someday realize the president and vice-president positions are about as useful as a hood ornament on an abandoned car. If the Democrats and Republicans keep pararading choices like these every four years, the voters will eventually push to have the two top positions abolished, and everything will be decided by the house and senate.

For 6 years George Bush Led an Republican Senate majority our budget was in pretty good shape,2 years ago when the democrats took over the senate the budget has went to hell in a handbasket.look at the time table is this what we want for 4 more years.I know Bush has made mistakes but as Americans are we so willing to blame it all on him, he has limited power it is the Senate that makes laws and gets them passed not the president he only has the power of the veto nothing more. So if you really want our economy in ruins put the democrats in the whitehouse, so the Senate wil have free rein to do whatever they choose. I want to say people in this forum sure like to attack one another.God bless America and protect her!!!

And to Just sayin is all Location: Ft Hood---- Why do you always post the "holier than thou" posts? But I guess if you're paid well by the government then you won't need a farm.

F in History, you get an F in Grammar but typical of Obama supporters. Sarah and "jingoist", (yes you're the same person), the time of your posts gives you away along with your disgrace. But again, typical of Obama supporter trolls who attack cowardly hiding behind other's names. A {jingoist} is someone who shows extreme chauvinism, especially by a belligerent foreign policy. What you need to call yourself is the Hypocrite in Waco. I do agree with you on one point--- a mandatory I.Q. test taken before a vote is made, because McCain/Palin would win by a landslide. Jack, don't sling mud then cry "foul" when it's slung back. FYI to everyone, Snopes.com only refers to EMAILS, as to whether they are true or not. You can find tons of information on the history of each candidate by simply googling and researching. Demoncratic haters want this to be about race. But it's not because Colin Powell would have my vote.

I can't understand why so many right wing Republicans who say they are "Christian" are so hate-filled in their comments. I notice this on Fox news. Talk about bias, they are very pro McCain. If someone says that they are a Christian, I look to see if they walk the walk. I don't see John McCain and Sarah Palin walking the walk with their hate-filled rhetoric.

Pay attention people, use your brain, don't just spout because you can. I can't take too much more "change", and neither can our country.

By Barack Hussein Obama's own words he is a uniter, a healer and is THE ONE to bring this country back together. His record on what he HAS DONE paints a different picture. He is the most liberal Senator. Period. Fact. He does not reach across the aisle to do anything. Period. Fact. His love of earmarks is well known. Period. Fact. His ties to people that are less than savory are many. All you people that say his ties to Ayers was when he was 8 years old stop and think. This guy is unrepentant and still preaches his crap about radical, violent extremism. Would YOU have him as your friend or advisor, AT ALL in your life? Ever? I know I would not ever be around Ayers. He got off on a technicality. And wished he had done more. And what he did killed people. And you want the President to have associations with these people? It all boils down to JUDGEMENT. And Barack Hussein Obama has very little good judgement.

Posted by: TEXASLEGAL on Oct 9, 2008 at 08:26 AM
The ties Obama has to ACORN get more interesting by the minute. Did you know this organizaton gets millions of your tax dollars and Obama tried to slip $100 million more into the bailout bill for this bunch? Yes he says he will end corruption and spending in government, but he is one of the most corrupt politicans there is. He will fit right in with Murtha, Frank and Pelosi. Yes go ahead and vote him in office, two years from now when our country has turned into a third world toilet, you will not find one person that will admit they voted for him. Everyone thought Ron Paul was a nut, but everything he said was going to happen is coming true. Just imagine if we actually had someone that had enough courage to stand up and do what is actually right for the country, not what will benifit their political career and pocket book. Where is Jackson and Sharpton during all this? Must be hard to support someone you despise.

Jingoists, bigots, racism, terrorists, idiots, slanderers, Jingoists, jingoists and haters....did I mention jingoists. THATS what politics bring us these days. Obama or McCain it doesnt matter. Our system has checks and balances that for the most part, limits the powers in Washington. What we dont see are all the backroom boardmeetings that go on. Nothing gets passed unless the powers that be decide it does, Dems and Republicans. Its all for show. Bottom line is this country is strong and can weather the current situation as it has similar situations in the past. This is not the America of the great depression, oh wait, we made it through THAT as well. Hey all you Chicken Littles.....the sky may be lower, but it aint fallen yet. P.S. I am tired of people yelling "RACIST" when someone has a problem with Obama. It is people like that, that keeps the racism going in this country. It has nothing to do with race, it has to do with the fact that this man has stated in his book that he will "stand by his muslim brothers", he has no experience with anything, the pastor he listened to for 20 years is a racist anti-everything that isint black anti-american biggot....open your eyes people, this man is dangerous. Why why why OOOOO why are people so bent on electing him?? It is pure ignorance. George Bush has not done well at all but John McCain is not George Bush and will not follow him. NOBAMA!!!!!!!!! And for the people that hate republicans in general...it was Clinton that exposed American children to oral sex...and is was during his administration that the terrorists started plotting for 9/11...he has even admitted this on televistion. Get-your-facts-straight. Get-smart.

I hear so much from so called open minded people about how if you don't like one thing about obama then you are labeled a racist. If you don't like or accept gays and lesbians then you are a homophobe. Why is it open minded people can accept Gays, Lesbians, and race mixing but they cannot accept that for my family and I, we will not accept this. Yes I am closed minded. It is my belief that these things are wrong. Although I have not said a negative word towards anyone who is or has done this things. Being open minded? What does this mean? I believe you have got to stand for something or you will fall for anything. I am closed minded. I do believe in God Almighty. I do work 2 jobs to support my family. I have never been on welfare. And as long as there is a breath in me I will work for a living. I will not depend on a check from anyone else for something I did not earn. What you do today you will have to sleep with tonight.I can look myself in the mirror and smile. Just vote ur heart

Good to know we can be civil on here Patriot. Love your comments though for the most part. Still think that Obama is going to win the election.

Taxpayer_01 --- I'm sick of people being so quick to call RACIST when someone does not like obama, I could care less if he was all black or all white, or 1/3 black 1/3 white 1/3 whatever. ITS HIS VIEWS, IDEAS, AND BACKGROUND that I do not like. If Colin Powel would have run for president, I'd have voted for him in a heartbeat, he would be one hell of a president. Obama, on the other hand, shows no care or respect for this country, and I simply do not like anything that he "says" he wants to do. And to make comment on your Christian statement --- ONCE A MUSLIM, ALWAYS A MUSLIM. A Muslim named Barack Hussein Obama, is NOT who I want running the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, regardless of whatever color you want to call him, race is not the issue, hopefully the rest of the USA is smart enough to realize he is a joke, and it wont be the United States of America for long if he is elected.

Patriot you are a bigot. Even though News Watcher proved you incorrect on your generally idiotic views on Obama's repainting of the plane, you still cling on to your jingoist, racist and corn pone views. People like you should not be legally allowed to vote. I suggest that there should be a mandatory I.Q. test taken before a vote is made. A mouth breathing knuckle dragging window licker like you would never be able to vote. Your not a patriot your a jingoist subhuman.

Thats right Texas. You betcha that we will win. We got the patriot act through, didn't we. You betch we did. Your rights are mine now. So thanks for your support and look forward to our next hipnotic debate. Oh, and right before the election we will bring you Osama Bin Laden. It worked for Bush with Suddam Husien. Thanks for your racism, i mean, support.

Someone needs to ask Obama if he thinks William Ayres should have went to prison for the bombings and terrorism he invoked. Would be interesting to hear his reply since he only knows him by 'passing'. Funny how the racism card comes out every time someone has no real facts to back up their arguments. What is Obama's real agenda? Higher taxes. Killing our nations sovernty through more UN control. Bigger government with trillions in spending and social programs. Giving millions of invaders amnesty and special treatment. A energy policy that will finish our economy. Can you imagine Obama, Reid, Pelosi having free reign in government with no checks and balances? By the way, no where in the constitution does it say healthcare and bailouts are a "right". Frank, Dodd and Waters should be in prison for their role in the Fannie and Freddie fiasco. But alas, the demowits will pass the blame to everyone but themselves. Our country is on a non reverible course.

Hi History Teacher. You get an F for even listening to mainstream media. Besides, Fox hates Obama. And for the American People bieng smart. You do know our votes don't really count. especially not in texas. and again about being smart voter, 2 words: George Bush. No, Not Smart.

www.snopes.com people...get your facts straight!!!

Posted by: Patriot Location: Texas on Oct 8, 2008 at 05:12 PM
Taxpayer_01 AKA Rachel??, you know better than to try and go there with that stupidity. Only the people with NO FACTS would vote for a unknown, radical, inexperienced man with terrorists and American hating pals. Just because one has a certain skin color does not mean they are auto-qualified for running the country. Stop with the (racists) BS. It has nothing to do with it.

Posted by: Taxpayer_01 Location: Temple on Oct 8, 2008 at 04:48 PM
Amazing how people truly show their racism and hate every chance they get. Gotta love Texas. Get your facts before you speak so that your not as stupid or racist. Obama is half black/white, christian, I know what it is christians cannot tell one another apart. Quick to judge and just stupid when they speak.

Hey Jack, Anyone running for the President of the United States of America should not be freakin painting over our flag anywhere, stomping on it, or burning it. Stay in your BOX... JACK.

This is to Bob in Belton. First, thank you for serving in Viet Nam. I have a cousin that had his F4C shot down in Laos and spent approx 5 years at the Hanoi Hilton. I have an answer to one of your questions. You are correct that Obama had the U.S. flag painted over on his campaign plane. The reason for doing it was because the plane was leased from North American Airlines. The flag insignia on the tail is the registered trademark of North American Airlines and couldn't be used for Obama's use. There is an American Flag on the body of the aircraft next the the plane's call letters. Go to Snopes.com for this answer and picture of both Obama's and McCain's aircrafts. Also, it may help you with other questions.

The worst thing about the Presidential debates is the major networks' coverage. They are so obviously biased. They are nothing short of Democratic party cheerleaders! They heap praise upon Obama and practically worship him, while they have very little positive to say about McCain or Palin. No politician is perfect; but what the national media does for the Democrats is ridiculous. It's interesting how just a few short months ago the media was gloating over Hillary Clinton, then all of a sudden they pulled the rug out from under her and started rolling out the red carpet for Obama. The national media is definitely trying to dictate the outcome of this Presidential election. I just hope that for the future of our country that the majority of American people are smarter than that.

Do your research on Obama before you cast your vote for him. I believe that he is dangerous. Yeah, he may bring change but not the kind that I want to see. Oh, check the actual stats on the economy. It started back in the 1990's not after Bush came into office.

BORAK HUSSIN OSAMA GONNA MAKE US PRAY TO ALLAH JUST U WATCH.

Posted by: Voter Location: Waco on Oct 8, 2008 at 12:25 PM
Same song, 10th verse! The rich get richer, the poor get poorer! I don't think either one will be able to do anything about the economy or heathcare or any thing else for that matter. So I will be voting for McCain/Palin. They are the lessor of the two evils and I would trust him with the safety of OUR country a million times over, than I would with Barack Hussein Obama.

Posted by: Bob Location: Belton on Oct 8, 2008 at 12:16 PM
I got news for you Jack. I don't vote for the party, I vote for whom I think will do the best job. I'm sick and tired of hearing how Bush has failed. Not long ago "your party" had a looser in the White House as well. Sure I don't agree with everything Bush has done just like Clinton, but to put Obama in the White House simply because hes a democrat is crazy. And to put a man in the White House that does not respect our flag and our nation..that's not why I spent time in Vietnam, that's not what I fought for. I believe in America and for what this Nation stands for.

Posted by: taxpayer Location: waco on Oct 8, 2008 at 11:55 AM
To Jack: You won't be addressing him as president, it will be "My lord" Obama. to all those who blame republicans...go re-check your history going back to Jimmy Carter. And Obama is NOT black...he is an Arab Muslim...is that who you want running our country? If yes, then you are just plain stupid and ignorant.

Posted by: John Sneed Location: Mc Gregor on Oct 8, 2008 at 11:33 AM
There is no Mexican-American, African-American or Asian-American...we are Americans. Thus, there should be no Democrat or Republican...just Americans trying to do what is best for the country we founded over 200 years ago. Partisan politics (no action because THEIR party brought the legislation) HAS TO STOP as does the spin and blame that goes on daily. It is not them and us...it is US. I am concerned about those willing to elect anyone with no more track record (or background) than one of the candidates for this Presidential Race. I am also concerned about economy and other issues facing our nation. When we decide as a UNITED STATES that we are all in this together then the choice for a leader will be simple...anyone willing to give their entire life for 4 years and subject themselves to the critisism of every armchair quarterback on a daily basis while trying to please an entire nation can have the job for the asking. Not sure I am interested.

Posted by: Jack Location: Hewitt on Oct 8, 2008 at 11:18 AM
Get over it Bob...no one but you cares about that. It's just spin to try to get away from the years of failure of the Bush administration. And all candidates paint their freakin plane however they feel like it. If your party wouldn't have wasted money and lives over the last eight years, you wouldn't be getting ready to say "President Obama."

Posted by: Bob Location: Belton on Oct 8, 2008 at 10:03 AM
The questions that I would like to hear an answer to is why Obama painted over the American Flag on the plane that the tax payers are paying for and why he has the anti American statements in his books that he wrote? Why doesn't someone ask him these types of questions?

Posted by: Sandi on Oct 8, 2008 at 09:56 AM
I'm with Tony.

I AGREE WITH TONY. SAME OLD STORY. I AM VOTING FOR "NONE OF THE ABOVE". NO WONDER I PLAN ON RETIRING OUTSIDE THE UNITED STATES ALONG WITH MANY OTHERS MY AGE. THIS COUNTRY IS ON PATH TO SELF-DESTRUCTION. IF OBAMA WINS,HE WILL BE THE SELF PROCLAIMED "SAVIOR" AKA: THE ANTI-CHRIST.
