(October 10, 2008)—Retail gasoline prices keep plummeting across Texas as crude oil prices fall on world markets.
The weekly AAA Texas survey released Thursday finds regular-grade self-serve gasoline averaging $3.28 per gallon statewide, 22 cents lower than last week and about 12 cents less than the national average.
Crude oil has fallen from a record $147.27 per barrel on July 11th to between $87 and $90 in the month of October.
The global economic crisis has slashed demand, and Gulf refineries are back to normal production levels after disruptions by Hurricane Ike.
According to TexasGasPrices.com, the state's costliest gasoline is in Fredricksburg, where regular is selling for $3.53 per gallon.
The state’s cheapest gasoline is in Harlingen where a gallon of regular grade is selling for $2.53.
Right here in Central Texas the cheapest reported gas in the last 24 hours was spotted in Bellmead near the intersection of Lake Shore Drive and Interstate 35, where regular grade is selling for $2.79 per gallon.
